Looks like ex Maidenhead,Wealdstone, Dulwich midfielder Christian Smith is trialling for Hampton and Richmond FC. No doubt likely to sign for them.

Dorking have written to the National League stating their belief and giving 5 reason why friendlies can be played with fans present.

They have set the league a deadline of today to respond with any legal reasons why they can't let fans in.

It'll be interesting to see if the NL respond by today.

Maybe if more clubs took Marc's stance, the F.A. and those in power might start to make a move.

Holding your breath really ain't an option, though in my view !!

The clubs in both the National League North & South insisted on being classified as ‘elite’ clubs in order for the promotions & play-offs to take place.

They didn’t have to, and the National League didn’t initially consider them to be ‘elite’ clubs, and if they hadn’t been then like step 3 (which is non elite and governed by the ‘Return to recreational team sport framework’) the National League North & South would be back playing with fans in attendance.

In summary, you can’t insist on being an ‘elite’ club when it suits you, and then not be at a time when it doesn’t suit you.

Have to say Ground Hog Day was a good film  ;)

The point is the term 'elite' IMO shouldn't be used when determining whether clubs can let fans in or not.

What is the difference between Leatherhead having 600 supporters and Slough being allowed to have 600 supporters?

By not using the term 'elite' and looking at each league/division on it's own merits as regards to the practicalities for letting supporters in would IMO be the most sensible way to look at the situation.

imo the decision as to wether a venue is suitable to allow people to attend a match should be left to the local authorities and if proved that adequate precautions and safety measures have been put in place then the decision should then be taken along with national guide lines and adjusted as the local situation dictates

Interesting developments in the 'let fans in' saga.

After receiving nothing back from the NL in relation to his questions around letting fans into pre-season friendlies, the Dorking manager Marc White has given his reaction to the total lack of any communication from the NL.

The result is Dorking are letting 300 fans attend tomorrows friendly with Potters Bar.

As far as Marc White and his Legal Advisors are concerned it is totally within their rights to do this as they are not breaking any rules.

Looks like Marc White is one of those chairman who follow the "it's my ball and if you don't do it my way I am taking my ball home" style.

Looks like Marc is no different to Glenn Tamplin - thinks money and bullying can get him what he wants.

As Stuntman Mark says, are Dorking turning into a circus, and so who is the clown there?

Disagree.

He's opinionated and say's it as it is but without people like Marc White fighting the non league corner nothing would progress or get done.

You’re right on the first part for sure, that’s quite obvious. I’m not aware of any lawsuits but I think he’s been great in getting voices heard. It’s a shame more clubs at steps 1 and 2 haven’t got onboard publicly. From what I’ve read it does appear that fans being allowed at home friendlies at our level could become a reality in the next week.
