Chippenham Town has signed midfielder Ross Stearn after his release from Bath City.

Hampton and Richmond have signed a striker from Kingstonian called Eddie Dsane.

Ross Stearn is another very good experienced signing for Chippenham.

Their new manager is certainly putting a marker down to have a much better season.

Phoenix club Bury AFC have been put in the North West Counties League and to date they have sold 1,000 new shirts.

When AFC Wimbledon went that low in the pyramid they turned up at grounds with 1000 + supporters at grounds only fit for a few hundred.

If I remember rightly although the financial benefits were good it caused a lot of problems for those clubs.

Having reduced their playing budget Havant have now signed center back Moussa Diarra from Woking.

With this man mountain in the team, and Godfrey Poku in midfield they certainly won't be slacking in the physical stakes. What with Joe Ica...whatshis name from St Albans? It doesn't seem like they've cut their budget, it's more like they've increased it !

Or the players that left the club, Kedwell and co, were on ridiculous money for this level of football.

Either way I can't see any club in the NLS having a bigger budget.

For 3Spirit will he be 6'2'+???

Well, Ryan Bird was supposed to be that tall striker but things didn't work out in that department. Typical. Damn and blast.

One thing I would say on the striker front is that the team are not desperate for a 'star' striker to be added but it would be wise to bring in another sort of target man, as Ben Harris is not fit enough to play every game and a variation to what he offers would be good for our team.

To me it is not about a new striker being prolific in front of goal, it's more about being a nuisance to opposition defenders, and creating space for our attackers especially players like Dan Roberts and Paul Hodges, who get into good positions to score. He doesn't have to be the most skilful player but I would like to see a player with the heart and strength to get stuck in but not over exceed what the ref deems as fair. Pace like Gavin James or Charlie Mpi had would be great but these sorts of players are not easy to come by and as we tried that to certain extent with Francis Armartey, it may be better to look for a striker, who is more like a Simon Martin or an Andrew Deaner.   After all, it is not rocket science.

I think every supporter would want a 'star' striker but they cost money and unless you're willing to fork out a lot of money why would they come to Slough when they could get the money higher up the leagues or at somewhere like Havant.

So we want a striker but he doesn't need to have scored many goals as long as he's a big lump who can put himself about?

I don't necessarily disagree with having a big striker but I think he needs to be a clever experienced player and not just a big lump. Again unless they are on a downward spiral we couldn't afford that sort of player.

I think more than likely to be a young prospect who wants to learn his trade.

It's all to do with money[as usual] in what can be afforded.  Bakes and Unders have a good record in finding players that are the right fit for 'our' squad and I agree with them, that it's imperative to have a player who fits in and gets on with the other players,as the spirit in the squad is a good one and so we don't need any 'bad apples'.

I don't mind taking a chance on an up and coming youngster/trier type but personally I would currently favour someone who's been around the block, and been at a few clubs and who's a bit 'cuter and sharper in mind' than what a youngster would bring. There are strikers playing lower levels who could do a specific role for Slough. It doesn't have to be a long term signing.

Funny enough there is a player who I know of,who I never rated much as youngster but has now grown with age/more club experience, who might well be on Bakes and Unders radar. He would be of the right age for a longer stay with us. Trouble is I think he would be a better fit for Slough in another year. Not quite the striker we need now but certainly a well committed and whole hearted player. Think he has been signed by a club recently, though.
