A couple of non league snippets

RR, to be honest, I've lost interest these last few months in football, in general. In the scheme of things, it just isn't important.

Things regarding non league football [amateur/semi pro] I still like ie, the Hemel appointments/signings and watching a match somewhere but as I've said previously, I'm not bothered if Slough do play in the National Premier.

Since Steve Easterbrook stepped down, the club seems to be heading in the direction of money means everything/the professional game, so this hasn't particularly made it any more appealing to me either. I don't believe in crowdfunding  but perhaps it's the sign of the times.

Of course, I want Slough to beat Dartford [ like I want them to beat any team they face] and thus progress but to me it's not the be all end all. If promotion is achieved I am intending to cherry pick certain Slough games, as the ones I watch but will favour attending Beaconsfield's matches this coming season.  I'm not going to give up being a Slough Town FC fan, though.

As for this fans forum, I still like reading it and participating in it, when I feel like it. I'm not keen when a football forum is turned into a slanging match and becomes political, as that is not what this forum is supposed to be about. However, I do believe in free speech,so sometimes straying off topic can be enlightening, if somewhat bewildering/bonkers at times.

Not sure if it's anything to do with Steve Easterbrook leaving but if any club wants to progress up the football pyramid, which is what 99.99% of supporters want, ways of funding that progression will always play a bigger part.

Yes crowdfunding can be done to death at times but if it's done for the right reasons/good causes IMO it's an excellent way of funding those causes.

As a moderator isn't it your job on this forum to ensure that people stay on topic?

Yes but it would be unfair to shut one person down in favour of another, when so far no one has said anything too outrageous.

On this topic of Black Lives Matter, it is not for me or any moderator, I don't believe, to call time on what was said.........yet. It might get out of hand, and then action should be taken but so far it has just been a bit of handbags between commited fans/viewpoints!

We differ on this subject but I respect your opinion, RR. We might not sing from the same hymn sheet currently about this matter but I don't believe either of us, want Slough Town FC to fail in progressing the club.

I am just not convinced, at this present time, without a money man/financial backer type chairman, that it should be this season.

I've said it all along that if we owned our ground one of these wealthy Chairman would have come out of the woodwork a long time ago.

Yes 3spirit, crowdfunding is a sign of the times. The play-offs would normally be funded from good match receipts. Crowdfunding is to enable the play-offs to take place behind closed doors but without being too financially detrimental to the club.

SG, has someone appointed you, as an authority on all things to do with Slough Town FC and football?

Good news.

The next important step will be knowing when supporters can start attending matches.

Boris the Spider is looking at October, Covid willing.

My congratulations to Dorking Wanderers on their win at Bath yesterday.

RR surprised you never mentioned last week the Cowley Brothers sacked by Huddersfield after only ten months in charge amazing they beat West Brom who were promoted last night to keep Huddersfield in the Championship. Why do thse clubs give managers three year contracts and then won.t give them the time they need success doesn't happen over night.
