A couple of non league snippets

Just watched the 4-4 draw between Dorking and Billericay.

Have to say Billericay looked really unlucky not to get the 3 points.

At 4-3 to Billericay Jack Paxman did some fantastic footwork to set himself up with an open goal but incredibly hit the post.

Matt Briggs then equalized with a real fluke of a goal when he crossed from the right and the ball flew in over the keepers head.

Any sign of trouble mentioned earlier during the game RR ?

I was in my local yesterday afternoon, but no hard core Wanderers supporters there to chat too.

Real shame it’s not worked out. He has raw talent but with the limited game time and the need for a longer sequence of games I guess this was on the cards. Just hope (obviously in a purely selfish way) he’s not one of those names you hear about and making it into the pro game! I’m guessing he wasn’t on contract so no fee involved although maybe some sell on was agreed? So with 1 or 2 coming in I’m guessing they won’t be strikers, so what positions? Can’t see it being defence either so maybe a creative midfielder and/or winger?

Difficult to gauge but with Ryan Bird now playing in defence I'd go for an experienced striker at this level or above (yes I know they don't come cheap).

Think I'm inclined to agree RR  2nd best defence in league but 13 teams have scored more

It’s going to be interesting to see who the Manager’s look to sign as we don’t appear to have any specific weaknesses, and do appear to have players who have shown they can play a variety of positions when cover is needed for injuries or suspensions.

If Mark Nisbet’s injury is long term then I could see us bringing in a very similar replacement for him who is confident playing out from the back, or if he is returning soon then I could see us adding a creative attacking central midfielder.

I’d like to see some fresh legs in midfield, all have been brilliant but they’ve all played a lot of games and it looks like a couple are playing through injuries. Warren Harris, Matt Lench and Max Worsfold have no cover so 1 or 2 that could play in those positions would be great at this stage.
Some big games to come in February/March and cover in midfield could be the difference.

I think it’s very likely to be ‘middle’ positions as you say we don’t really have any cover on the wings (I know Joe is but I think it’s more productive at this stage for him to be a regular at Hartley). The Lenchmo can play on the wing but we know that’s not his best position.
