Buchanan well out of our price range and not looking to add a forward at the moment anyway.

Jon, I get your reasoning, reading between the lines but it only takes one our strikers to be snapped up to play higher, or to leave to play for another club, and for another to get an injury, for a change of priority. All I was alluding to, was if Elliot Buchanan became a free agent,he could be a good player for Slough, as he isn't a lazy forward and he isn't a player that shy's away from a challenge.

Although he's not  a lazy player I'm not sure Buchanan is a 'one up top' type of player.

OK I know we can switch formations but at the moment playing 4-5-1 really suits us and if we were to sign Buchanan I'm sure he would want/expect to play most of the time.

As you say if we were to get injuries etc things could and probably would have to change.

I find 4-5-1 a bit dull at times, as too often our midfielders are too far away from Dan Roberts to cause problems up front. Today was better in this regard especially first half but I don't see it as a long time ploy if Dan Roberts were to leave the club. I think we've done well with this system so far and while we are getting good results from it we are unlikely to use much else but I don't see it as the be all end all, especially as we actually do have a lot of options this season for our front line. However,as long as the results keep going well who cares what the formation is?

He also said he wants Romford to be in Div 2 within 5 years.

Not very ambitious Div 2 of the Ryman  ?

Romford's match at Histon today was postponed due to the Bridge Road pitch being waterlogged.

I am probably one of the few Rebels supporters who have seen Romford play.
In the 1959/60 season, I saw Sittingbourne lose 0-2 at home to Romford who were promoted to the Southern League Premier Division.
In the 1966/7 season, Romford won the title of what was arguably the strongest league in non-league football. But much as they tried, they never gained election to the Football League and folded in 1978.
Interesting to note that Weymouth won the Southern League title in the 1964/5 and 1965/6 seasons and Chelmsford City in the 1967/8 season!!!

We will see if Glenn Tamplin succeeds but there is sense in his aims. The town is as important in Essex as Bromley is in Kent and needs to be on the football map.

In my schooldays, I twice cycled from SIttingbourne to Romford and back just to spend a few hours on Romford station watching the trains on the Liverpool Street main line before it was time to cycle home again!

Chesham are now top of the Premier Division South following an excellent 0-1 win over previous leaders Truro City today.

Berkhamstead, Steve Bateman's team, are up to 2nd in Southern Division One Central following their 2-4 win over Didcot.

Division 2 in 5 years?

Makes no sense at all.

Kings Lynn in their first year in the National North  lead the table and have seen gates increase by 67%

Kings Lynn are stuck out on a limb with only Norwich the closest big team so no real surprise by their substantial increase in gates.

Their top of the table clash with York City attracted over 4,000 to The Walks yesterday, which is hugely impressive.

Obviously they felt prepared to announce it as 4,000 rather than a much lower number as they don’t need to split the gate receipts ?

RR  Their geography hasn't changed  Its playing at a higher level that has substantially boosted their gates and of course being an immediate success this far

SG - I recall seeing Romford play in the old Southern League on a couple of occasions at Hillingdon Borough in the 1970s.
