A couple of non league snippets

If we have ‘assets’ on contracts surely it’ll be foolish not to have young(ish!) successful managers on them too? I don’t think any of us would be surprised if they’ve been approached previously and if they continue progressing our club then unfortunately the time will come when a big club comes in for them... our saving grace may be the very difficult decision on whether they’d leave their jobs for full time football management.

Who would take Dobbo back on loan?

If Slough could get him on loan, I think that would be a great signing to boost our play off chances. It doesn't have to rule Max out of the starting line up, as Dobbo offers a lot of different factors to what Max gives us.To me you could fit both into the team. Also it may well suit both parties [Dobbo and our managers], in that he could be used sparingly but give him valuable time on the pitch for himself, and for us without the need to necessarily over play him. I'm not saying it's going to happen but surely it would be worth an enquiry.

I tend to disagree.

I think both players are very similar in that they are both very good at crossing the ball and can play on either side if necessary.

One other difference is that Max likes to take players on and get to the byline when he can where as Dobbo would try to cross at every opportunity rather than try to go past a player.

The other difference for me is that Max seems more comfortable and willing to track back and defend than Dobbo was.

Each to their own but apart from them playing as left wingers I don't see the comparison. Dobbo scores goals and has more skill on the ball than Max but Max is far stronger than Dobbo and for me whips in better crosses but is not as effective at breaking into the penalty area and getting a shot away or is as good as Dobbo from free kicks/dead ball situations. I disagree with you, that Dobbo doesn't go past defenders.

Max is far better defensively than Dobbo but as a flair player I prefer Dobbo.Max is more of a team player in the Bakes/Unders style[hard press/hardworking ethic] but Dobbo is an exciting player that could liven up most squads in this division.   To me you could accomodate both in the team,as I would have thought they would play well together but obviously you can just play one and use the other for competition/impact sub but with the uplift of one replacing the other as they tire.

With Dobbo it would only be a short term arrangement but would surely be another shot in the arm to our creativity, and as he knows our managers/most of our players and the club well, I would have thought it would be a good way of upping our attack options without spending out ridiculously.  Against Wealdstone and Hemel we created chances to score but I wouldn't say our team are creating chances for fun.Anyway it's a hypothetical scenario and unlikely to happen but stranger moves in football take place,so never say never.

It would be interesting to know if our Managers are on a contract.... because with the success they are achieving there is an increasing possibility they could be approached about one of these ‘bigger’ jobs.

Surely they will have one of those "bigger" jobs this time next season. Dagenham & Redbridge are 18th. in National League. Bakes and Unders will be the Chris Wilder of the National League and will be up there on 41 points where Boreham Wood and Woking are currently - 8th. and 9th! When Bakes and Unders get their club promoted, they assess the new level, review the squad and bring suitable players in accordingly.

Pretty certain our managers have always stated that they would never go full time.

There’s always a risk putting a player or manager on contract, you do it to protect your asset but obviously that asset could become a liability and hard to shift if things don’t work out. As you say RR with Dulwich’s manager sitting on a 3 year full time contract he’s obviously not going to leave unless he’s paid off and/or gets another job.

Pretty irrelevant really, i cannot see that Dobbo would want to come back to us and I seriously doubt whether Bakes and Unders would want him back to potentially disrupt a settled squad.

I agree it's unlikely to happen, RebelVilla but it isn't as far fetched an idea as some might believe, being that Dagenham and Redbridge currently sit in 18th position and look like they have a mountain to climb to move away from the relegation zone. They need a new manager and are bound to bring new players in to stop the rot. Dobbo may find he's surplus to requirements being that he hasn't nailed down a starting place,  and MAY struggle to find another National League club.

Slough sit in 3rd place and are pushing for promotion. Dobbo's National League time has hardly been a monumental success, and I wouldn't say he's a player who wants to play in a relegation battle, or that he will be an automatic pick for a new manager looking to turn around a bad situation. That could leave Dobbo needing a shop window to get his show back on the road..........and what better way of doing that? A short loan back at a club he has an affinity for and knows well....and at the right end of the table. Whether Slough could afford him, in monetary terms, is another matter.
