A couple of non league snippets

In the Non League paper Bakes and Unders get a double page centre spread [it's all right they haven't got their kit off ! lol]. Jolly good read I thought.

I'm surprised no one has commented on the twosome's photo on the back of the Slough Observer newspaper, as the title reads ' Friendship and hard work is the key to 500 milestone'  and in the photo below it looks like Bakes has got the hots for Unders! ha ha ha! Pouting lips and all !

Read the article and yes I thought it was a good insight into how they came to apply, had the meetings with Steve Easterbrook to eventually getting the job at Slough.

There's a link to that photo, and all the others I personally published, in the Chelmsford thread.

Just noticed that Tony Mendy lined up for Romford on Saturday and was subbed in the second half.

Now 27 and a prime example of fact that talent alone is not enough.

Bad news for him then if he got subbed off by Tamplin.

Tampon is claiming that some of the players he let go had played for 3 teams already this season and that's the maximum allowed

Is this correct?

Also who attended/remembers our last meeting with Romford  A Trophy tie in the 2015/6 season played at lunchtime on a Sunday afternoon in November.

Yep, I was one of the very few at Romford for the 4-0 win.... I managed to persuade my partner to come as well by promising her Sunday dinner at the Three Oaks in Chalfont on the way home.

The hardships that have to be done in married life, just to watch a football match ! ha ha ha!

As always  money talks  He is bringing in a number of players from several levels above It would be hard imo for him not to achieve a huge improvement in results

As for the stadium Romford already have a site in mind with  planning permission so again just a question of finance.

They could make a bomb selling their ground. Would not surprise me if figures of between £10-15 million are suggested. You could then build a National League standard stadium for £5 million and have vast funds if and when you need to expand which would probably be sooner than later as they’d be able to significantly improve their squad. If all managed correctly they could become an established League 2 side.

A little bit of history took place on Wednesday In their league cup game  Taunton Town and Truro City drew 2-2 and the subsequent penalty shootout resulted in a Taunton victory by 12-11

A combination of poor penalty taking and excellent goalkeeping led to 11 penalties failing

This total of 34 kicks is a new UK record.

Sorry to say this Glen, but I think that figure falls well short.

I know Meadowbank now is the home of Surrey F.A., but the overall cost was around double the figure you quoted.

Maidenhead appear to be in discussions with the local authority over a community stadium available to other clubs / organisations in the area with some finance coming from the local authority  a bit like the Arbour Park arrangement so the cost to Maidenhead could be a lot less than a self funded deal imo
