I wonder where his brother Callum is playing these days?

A talented player but as we all know sometimes talent is not enough.

He was at Beaconsfield but think he is with another club now.Saw his name down with another club very recently but can't recall who it was!

I liked Nathan as a player but Callum I didn't go a bundle on, skilful but not enough input for my liking.

Since Nathan left Slough he's found it hard to settle anywhere. I still rate him and think a good manager can still get something from him.

Personally, I put both Nathan and Callum in the same bracket.

Both have or had the ability to make it to a higher level but unfortunately lacking other attributes that make up a top footballer.

When you say top footballer, what do you mean?

I don't hold that players need to play professional or Conference football to be regarded as a 'top' footballer. There are plenty of good fotballers at step 3 and 4 who never get a lot of credit for the sterling work they do for their clubs. And there are DEFINITELY ones that never get the opportunity to go higher, not because they are not good footballers, more like no one takes a chance on them.

I didn't get to see Nathan Webb play last season but did the previous season and his performances were a mixed bag then, probably why Bakes and Unders let him go. His heart didn't seem in it in certain games but there was still enough about him to recognise he could do a decent job for someone.

This season it looks like Steve Conroy ex Kings Langley manager is taking a chance on Nathan at Walton Casuals. I think he's got a dependable player there,if he can install some faith and belief in him.  On his day Nathan's as good as any player in Step 3 and could do a job for someone at Step 2 [at this level more as a squad player now] if someone gave him a chance[ and I don't mean Slough], a team like Hampton I was thinking. He has a lot going for him as he can play in numerous positions, an asset for any manager. Not sure how old Nathan is and whether he has the desire to play at Step 2 now though? Some players just miss the boat in this regard. Reminds me of Kyle Anthony who played for Slough at Step 4 for Steve Bateman and for Steve at Berkhamstead at Step 4, when really he could have easily have done a job in Step 3 but somehow got left behind.  Lewis Toomey, another one who's full potential never got realised. Good players are around but managers make or break them.

Both Webbs are now at Walton Casuals I was told on Saturday.

Its odd but sometimes brothers playing together isn't such a good thing. Not every pair fit as well together as the Togwells [that went better than we could have hoped]!

Steve Conroy, is having to rebuild Walton Casuals, so probably favours giving the Webbs a chance because he needs bodies and some unity in the camp but looking at it from my angle I would prefer to have them as separate entities, as I think they are better players when not together. Just my opinion.

Probably should have said as higher level of football as they can for the skills they possess.

I don't necessarily agree that players never get the opportunity to go higher.

If a player thinks he's good enough he only has to put himself forward to a club/s for a trial and if he's good enough he will get his chance.

There can be all sorts of reasons why a good player never reaches the level he should.

Just watched Swindon/S/Marine v Hungerford.

2 nill win to marine they played with a settled side were the better team and deserved the win.

As for Hungerford they mixed up there team at half time with a number of subs. There 1st 11 ????. They only managed 2 shots in the ninty minutes. But it was a friendly on a warm evening so you could say nothing gained apart from fitness.

But as we know the league match will be different.

Billericay have signed 35 year old striker Matt Rhead from Lincoln City for an undisclosed fee.

Glen Tampering has apologized for breaking his word and busting their budget to a sign a player he say's will win them the league.

Matt Rhead lives in Stoke.

He’s no doubt earning more at Billericay than League 1 Lincoln City, just illustrates the madness of King Tampon. Just awaiting his next meltdown when they’re not top by 50 points... For the Lincoln City manager to state it’s an incredible deal for all 3 parties, my guess is they paid £25-50k for him (he’s 35) and are paying him £3-4K per week over 2 years. That’s a massive outlay/gamble and I look forward to seeing just how good he is soon.

You know that’s at League 1/2 level right? Do you not think he could be prolific at 2 or 3 levels below that? Sure there’s no guarantee but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him score 25+ which could well be the difference in Billericay winning the league or not.

He’s only played league 2 and in 165 games has scored 21 at that level. His career record is only 1 in 4, the majority of which is at non league level. He’s 35 and 6ft 4 and from pictures is not the leanest. Not saying he’s not a good player (I’ve never seen him play) but I can’t see him scoring bucket loads.

Do you think Billericay will genuinely challenge though Glen? For me they are a basket case club, the manager is not up to it and they obviously have Tamplin to contend with. I think they’ll implode and struggle to make playoffs personally, despite the budget.

There must be something about him for a non league club to pay £50k for.a 35 year old? We shall see I guess and yes I would expect Billericay to challenge for promotion not necessarily top spot because as you say you just can’t predict what GT will do.
