As I forecast a while back. Billy has followed Dean Brennan from Hemel to Billericay and now to Wealdstone.

I don't think it's been confirmed yet.

Probably just depends if Wealdstone are prepared to pay the silly money he's asking for.

I have no idea what players are on in this division, so what sort of figure would Billy Clifford be asking for?

What I can't make out either, is Wealdstone were supposed to be slashing their budget from last season, so why now would they be splashing the cash?

As I said it doesn't seam to be a done deal yet but if he does sign it will make a nonsense of Wealdstone saying they have slashed their budget for this season.

rumour mill on saturday had it he was asking for £600 a match how true that is or where that info originated from i have no idea, so make of it what you will.  :elephant:

If that's true, he isn't worth it. Slough are better staying sustainable, not over spending. That's one thing our club should know given the clubs history !

Billy is a decent enough player but not, IMO, the type of game changing player that you could build a side around.

Totally agree SloughFlyer.

It's no skin off my nose what players earn at Slough's level [ I find it scandalous and obscene what players in the Premiership get !] but in the Conference South, Slough need a competitive budget but not break the bank for anyone. The club shouldn't be held to ransom by any player.

As you inferred SloughFlyer, Billy Clifford on the pitch is talented enough but no game changer. He fitted in well to complete the jigsaw of the team last season but this season we are starting afresh and are not desperate for his part to complete the picture.

Are you making those rather harsh comments about Billy Clifford on well founded ‘inside knowledge’ or purely on the basis of the ‘rumour’ posted above?

Are you talking to me or all of us as a whole?

If you are talking about my post, Curtis, I'm listening to the rumour mill, reading various forums and have a source of info, to make a reasonable estimation of what is going on.

It is only an outsiders view, though, and my own personal opinion on Billy Clifford's actions.Could be wide of the mark but doesn't appear to be.

It seems that the whole subject has touched a raw nerve somewhere, so I will happily drop the 'hot potato', Neil. ?

Have edited my longer post, if that helps.

It appears Billy Clifford has signed for Wealdstone and also trialling for the 'Stones' at the moment, according to the Vanarama South forum, is last season's Maidstone fc player of the year, midfielder Michael Phillips.

Cheap signings,my foot !

Delighted to hear this news.

The Wealdstone forum is strangely silent on his signing.

I wonder where his brother Callum is playing these days?

If their details are correct, just seen that Callum Webb is still on the list of squad players for Beaconsfield.

A talented player but as we all know sometimes just being talented is not enough.
