Bracknell Town have made a decent signing in our old friend Lee Barney from H&Y. The Robins must be throwing a bit of money around as H&Y were good payers and they’ve been promoted. So unless it was Lee’s boyhood dream to play for Bracknell there must have been a very tempting offer on the table as I’m sure there would have been a few other clubs interested in him.

Yes strange that the promising young Dulwich CB has gone the other way to Welling.

Seems less travelling could be the reason.

Hampton are a bit like Concord having to bring in players from levels below the NLS.

They are raiding the best players from lower div clubs, if it works it'll be a stroke of genius if not it'Il be a dogfight against relegation for these two sides.

I like Gary McCann as a manager but think he has his work cut out this year to keep Hampton out of the relegation positions. Initially I think they will do ok but I see them struggling come the end of the season,if they can not afford to strengthen come January.

I wrote down my guessimate on what I think the table will look like come the end of the season but obviously it will change,as signings are announced, squads are sorted and pre-season starts. Currently I have Havant,Bath, Welling,Hemel, Dartford,Maidstone and Billericay as the top seven[in that order], followed in 8th by Chelmsford,9th Dulwich,10th Slough, 11th Chippenham,12th St Albans, 13th Eastbourne, 14th Dorking, 15th Oxford City, 16th Braintree, 17th Wealdstone, 18th Hampton, 19th Weymouth, and the bottom three of 20th Hungerford, 21st Concord and 22nd Tonbridge.

What do others think?

By the way, that's Slough without Billy Clifford. If we do acquire him,I think we might get to 7th or 8th at a push.

Like last season I think we have a great opportunity of starting well in the first couple of months regardless of who we play because of having such a settled squad.

I think Dorking will be knocking on the play-off door. They have kept all the players they wanted to keep and have only brought in 3 quality players from the NL which is always a good sign.

As you say other teams i.e. Welling, Bath, etc will depend on who they sign in the next couple of weeks.

Billy Clifford is still on a contract so unless he upsets Billericay and they get shot of him I don't think he'll be coming to Slough.

I think our managers have already stated that they won't pay a fee for a player.

I think Dorking have some good players and a few bob to strengthen if need be but for me I don't see them challenging for the play off's.

I think Hemel have signed well but they've got to start from scratch, as they have cleared out too many players of last season. Very good individually but takes time to build a successful team.I might be wrong but I think it won't be straight forward for them.

Might be wrong but wasn't Billy Clifford, a Dean Brennan signing? Given his loan to Slough and Billericay rumours of big names coming into their club, Billy Clifford may become surplus to their managers requirement. Will have to wait and see on that one.

Could he be a target for Wealdstone then?

Billy was retained so that’s either because he’s still on contract and they can’t or won’t pay him off or they actually want to keep and play him. I see Weymouth have made a big signing in a player who played over 30 times last season for Dagenham & Redbridge. If they add a couple more of a similar stature then they could be dark horses. Yes a lot of new players can take time to gel but then again that’s what pre-season is for and with the calibre of players they now have you’d be very foolish to be against them. Dorking I’d expect minimum top 10 plus they have the resources to add further quality if required.

If I'm right on Dean Brennan, then maybe but hopefully he liked his time at Slough and would rather come back to us. Wealdstone are supposed to have a smaller budget this season,so might not have the funds for Billy. We can live in hope!

I don't think Wealdstone could afford him.

Wealdstone have already said their budget has been cut and looking at their signings so far that seems to be the case.

You say that but Ross Lafayette would not have been cheap.

When Brennan went from Hemel to Billericay he signed Billy Clifford.

Of course the other problem would be his wages which must dwarf anything we could/would pay.

The player Weymouth have signed from Dagenham is a young lad according to their forum who plays left back. Given they've lost their top scorer and a couple of their better players have yet to sign, I don't see Weymouth as play off contenders but they certainly won't be pushovers.I placed them lower in the table, more on the strength of the other teams in the division.
