In fact our managers were spotted talking to Alex Wall at the Concord game, now that's what I call forward thinking.

Mind you I think they were also chatting up Tshimanga  ?

Alex Wall is one most managers would want, however due to his injury record in the past he has been told not to play much on 3G, which would rule him out for us ?

And he will also be more than likely joining a National Premier side or football league.

Was assuming the same - you don't score the number of goals he has, including an FA Cup hat-trick at Tranmere, without being noticed.

Any player at any level scoring loads will be watched and ultimately get a move to a higher club. Hopefully for Oxford City he’s under contract as I’m sure he could net a decent 5 figure fee. I see they’ve given their manager a full time contract which was surprisingly as only recently they had big financial issues.

Right let’s go through some other strikers and mark them off until we find out who we’re signing...

Neil are we finding ourselves with a smaller pool of players to choose from because of our pitch in that some don’t like playing on it or are advised not to?

Maybe they’re getting a six figure sum for Tshimanga ?

I’d very much doubt they’d get £100,000+ but they may well have a buyer lined up and that could be why they can afford to offer their manager a full time contract. Obviously I don’t know his situation but you’d think he’d want at least a 2 year contract which could cost between £60-80,000. So there’s obviously outside funding maybe those other 3G pitches are raking it in!

Full time manager at Oxford City? absolute madness.

As you say Glen I'm sure at the beginning and during the season they've been under financial constraints.

So what's changed?

two appearances in the FA Cup proper in last two seasons.....

There is a general opinion by some in football that 3G is no good for the body etc, is why we find it very difficult to get any senior football league teams to come and play us pre season, and even the academy sides end up leaving players out.

However personally I think it is nonsense, our injury record since playing and training on it has been fantastic (3 years), in fact Sam who is now 34 has just had his best season in a number of years in terms of games played, and has had no effects of playing on the 3G, and that is the type of person these league clubs don’t want to play on it.

Was the same when we went for Dave Tarpey who was told not to play on 3G at the time, however we have two players in Warren Harris and Ben Harris who have both done their ACLs and have no reactions from the surface.

It is people like Martin Tyler who lambast the surface, and say that after playing on it they will have loads of injuries that really don’t know what they are talking about.

Of course I am sure people have picked up injuries on them, but so do they on grass... as a player I would have preferred to play on our surface than a rock hard pitch at the start of the season and especially at the end.

Yes it rules certain players out because of what they believe, but let’s be honest there is not a shortage of players around, and there will always be plenty that know playing on 3G will have no detrimental affect on them.

Remember Arsene Wenger moaning that his Arsenal side having to play Sutton in the FA Cup on 3g couple seasons back.

Yet European games are played on 3g.So do the big clubs have indoor 3g for training incase they play in these games.
