After 11 years Paul Doswell has announced that he has left Sutton for good.

He wants to stay in football but at a club closer to home.

Wonder if Sutton will retain Dobbo's services?

Wouldn't think Paul Doswell will be out of a job for long. Where does he live? Wonder if there's more to his departure from Sutton than he is letting on?

I wonder if he's been lined up for the Aldershot job, as he lives in Winchester,so that wouldn't be a bad run for him?

Hope he lands that job, as I have been hearing rumours that Bakes and Unders are in the running, too !

I think he lives either Southampton or Winchester, not sure which.

He's quoted 4 hour round trip 3/4 days a week for the past 11 years plus health problems as the reason.

Yes Dos didn’t want a wage plus put serious money into Sutton United during his 11 years there. So that could have serious concerns for the club going forward unless he’s agreed to fund them which I doubt as he wants to find another club nearer his home and he may want to invest in that club. I think he lives near Southampton. There’s rumours the Havant manager is in the running to become manager.

Listening to his last interview Dos states the travelling plus the want to spend more time with family as the reasons for his departure.

Take the job of a club that are on the downward slope or stay at a club that are on the rise?

True but Aldershot are a big club with the finances to go straight back up as I’d imagine they’d stay full time. If they’re top they’ll get 2,500 easily and with a 2 or 3 year full time contract in front of you any manager at this level would be foolish not at least look into it. Obviously don’t want our managers to go but just saying these are the sorts of clubs they’ll be attracting after all they’ve achieved with us plus the fact they’re local and young.

Not sure they have got the finances and I think there is talk of them going part-time due to their financial situation.

Can't see Sutton going for Lee Bradbury, after the season he's had at Havant getting them relegated. I think Sutton are more likely to stick by their current caretaker manager Ian Baird,as he has plenty of managerial experience and has done relatively well since taking over the reins from Paul Doswell.

Ironically, Havant could be another club that seeks the service of Paul Doswell.

Dos could well end up at Havant considering the locality.

I meant finances in terms of having a full time squad which I’m sure they’ll keep as they’ll obviously want to go straight back up.

If Aldershot were to stay full time that would great as it would quash any rumours of managerial departures.

It's not always a bed of roses swapping to supposed big clubs. There's always more pressure put on the managers by fans, who expect much more, and often these sorts of clubs want instant success.

I would hate to see Bakes and Unders leave but their success at Slough and at Godalming is bound to have them on the radar of other clubs.

I would wish them well if they did depart but they shouldn't think for a minute that the grass is greener at another club, as they are highly thought of here at Slough, by the Chairman, the club and the fans and have the benefit of a loyal evolving squad. Starting from scratch somewhere else, when a club is struggling is a challenge that some savour but there's also a lot of good managers that come unstuck by doing it.   Take Alan Dowson,as an example,if you go on Woking's forum, you would think he's been useless as a manager there, as many fans seem to think being in second place in the Conference South is not good enough. Aldershot is a similar sort of club to Woking. Lofty ambitions, unrealistic fans and money men looking for a fast buck.

Any move to any club will always have its risks, if every player and manager only looked at the negatives no one would ever move!!! I would hope there’s enough ambition here for our managers to resist the likes of Aldershot Town but I can also accept they’re a bigger club and aside from a better financial package the goal of restoring them as a FL club would be a huge draw. Although we’ve not been told I’m sure there have been approaches from other clubs for Neil & Jon’s services.

Aldershot do still have a manager currently at the helm but it appears that Gary Waddock's time there may be running out. Hard one to call, as he has been hugely successful at Aldershot and the club may stay loyal to him despite this season's bad run of form and subsequent demotion. Fans seem to be split about whether they should keep him or not.
