A couple of non league snippets

This is their predicament... they’re probably playing 2 levels higher than their resources allow and any money going in won’t be coming back although that’s the case at nearly every club. But the fan base just isn’t going to grow much more or to a sustainable level for even this division.

Glen. Tend to agree Hungerfords average home attendances are 297 The league's lowest Their average away attendances are 584 Also the league's lowest  Not really sustainable unless benefactor/mug can be found Most of the talk at the meeting was about how they could get a number of new sponsors

Windsor Rebel You're correct of course Poor choice of word  mea culpa  So many people have lost huge sums over the years because they have no understanding of the true costs of running a club and believe success can always be bought!

Madness.... the Royal Cornwall Hospital is less then 2 miles from Truro’s ground.

For a broken arm you wouldn’t usually wait for an ambulance, you would get in a car and get a lift to the hospital, especially when it’s less than 5 minutes away.

Congratulations to Dorking Wanderers who won their division yesterday in front of 1,023.

Looking forward to visiting their new ground next season.

Maybe I'll get to meet some of you at Meadowbank next season, health permitting !

Truro v Concord game abandoned in the 80th minute with the score at 0-1 due to a Truro player breaking his arm.

Apparently it took over 2 hours for an ambulance to arrive.

Nice little mid week 600 mile round trip for Concord.

Update on the Truro site says the ambulance was called at 4.30 pm and arrived at 7.30 pm

You can look this up yourself, but there are 4 different categories of ambulance response, and these range from Category 1 which is potentially life threatening (i.e. a situation possibly similar to Mark Scott’s neck injury, where the player should be immobilised, not moved at all) where ambulance response times are about 10 minutes, to a Category 4 non urgent where there is a stable clinical case that requires transportation to a hospital, where response times can be approximately 3 hours.

It would therefore appear that whatever was said to the emergency services would have placed this in Category 4, and there wouldn’t have been a need to immobilise the player and keep him on the pitch.

Our old friend Ryan Hope ( now at Harrow) has been called up by Paul Fairclough to an FA representative squad to take on a Bedfordshire FA X1 to mark their 125 year anniversary.

He's at Hendon not Harrow.

Apparently it was down to the grade of emergency call the ambulance service puts a broken arm down to.

It was only when someone phoned them back and said he was in serious agony that they upgraded the call.

We had a similar case in the good old Dorking F.C. days at Meadowbank when one of our players sustained a serious ankle fracture leaving him with his foot backwards !  It didn't take 4 hours, but nearer one.  It was a St. John ambulance, but thankfully, one of the crew was authorised to administer morphine. I had to admit I was surprised a St. John ambulance would be allowed to carry morphine.

I learnt that the ambulance was a reserve, and had travelled from the Surrey/Sussex border after dealing with another incident.

The paramedic, (yes  -  he was qualified), told me, "Saturday is a bad day to sustain a serious sports injury.  Very little cover on a weekend."

I think that speaks volumes !!!!

Noticed George Wells got picked to play in Paul Fairclough representive side against Bedfordshire fa team. Just wondered what the team line up with George in it was and what the score was, as I can't seem to find anything about the game.  Tried google and twitter but got nowhere fast. Anyone help me with this, please ?
