Ahead of our game tomorrow Concord have signed striker Sam Ashford from East Thurrock and Midfielder Taylor Maloney from Charlton.

Maloney likes to shoot from distance There's a short clip on the Charlton site of him scoring an excellent goal through a host of players.

Blimey Kingstonian are terrible! All the money spent assembling that squad and they lose to the 2nd bottom! Have they actually won since their new manager came in? Not looked yet but I wonder if they could get sucked into a relegation battle?

Kingstonian was in free fall under their previous manager but so far new manager Dean Brennan hasn't been able to stop that slide. That's one point taken out of four games now. Personally, I think their new manager has cleared too many Kingstonian players out and brought too many new ones in, as to me he's making changes for changes sake. Obviously, you need new players and players loyal to the new gaffer but I think he's asking for trouble by rushing it.

Well he’ll be out of the door this time next season if they’re not in at least a play off position. I’d personally think the owners are foolish to pump all their resources into the team when the need for their own ground surely should be the bigger picture? How long can they fund this type of squad on average crowds of around 300?

I take your point, does seem stupid but then again, perhaps the board have something up their sleeve regarding a new ground.

Non league football teams paying over inflated players wages, often seem at odds with what is sane but as clubs follow the lead of professional teams, it's hardly surprising that the money people that run non league clubs will pay over the top on players, and we fans don't make it any easier for them by demanding instant success.

I believe Slough FC now have a more sensible approach, by living within their means but we haven't always had that approach,  I remember one season[and expect you do, Glen] when Martin Deaner was running the club and Steve Browne was manager, when we had about 50 players[quite a few were ex league players] over the course of the season [can't remember spot on the number but it was something ridiculous] and we still didn't win anything !

I certainly do remember those crazy Deaner years when we were paying silly money to some average players and even paying the travel expenses for a player living in Scotland! But Martyn was very naive with his money and didn’t have a clue how to utilise it wisely.

I don't think Martyn Deaner was any fool when it came to money but there did seem a lot of irregularities going on when he was at the club. Having said that, we didn't have anyone else stepping forward to help our club financially, and I for one will be eternally grateful to him for saving our club and keeping the club alive, when we were ousted out of Wexham Park.

Looking back to his reign, he was awful at appointing managers but some of the players we attracted certainly gave us some good entertainment but not necessarily the positive results to win much.
