A couple of non league snippets

On Hodges we liked him at the time, and were very close to keeping him with us, however we felt that in our 442 that we were playing at the time, he would have had to take Dobbo position, which wasn’t going to happen, and felt having come up from step 5 he would be better playing in a good step 4 team for experience rather than sit on our bench, hence why we let him go out to Hartley.

In terms of us we got it right with our squad as we got promoted and had the FA Cup run, however have to say delighted for Hodges as he is a cracking lad, however it has always been his dream to play at Woking which is two minutes from his house, and he fully deserves to be playing.

He has unpredictability and pace to him, and that is something we also see in Dan Roberts.

He is now in the side on merit, and would expect him to play the majority of the games for the rest of the season.

It might have been me, SD, as I said that I thought Paul Hodges would be a squad player not a regular first teamer. To be honest, Paul Hodges has done better than I thought he would at Woking but I wasn't wrong in how he is being used, as he isn't one of the first names on the team sheet and while his form has kept him in the team, he also has been a substitute a number of times. I can be wrong like anybody about players but least with me I admit when I'm wide of the mark.

For me, though, Paul Hodges looked like he had ability when he played for us in the pre-season friendlies but I didn't feel Slough was the right  fit for him at the time, and nor did our managers otherwise they would have signed him. I stick by that opinion.

While Paul Hodges is obviously performing well for Woking, their team is in a far stronger position to carry players, to where Slough were, having just been promoted. Think you need to recognise that and also that their squad is lot larger than Slough's and they have a high turnover of players, where by and large we don't.

As good as Paul Hodges is playing for Woking, I don't believe Slough have missed out, by not signing him.

Another goal another MOTM a 3 - 1 win and top of the league.

Paul is doing well at Woking

St Albans City have signed Walton Casuals striker James Ewington.

James was one that we were also interested in, and in fact we put in an approach for him on Tuesday evening after Unders watched him against Hartley (one of 4 games we have been to watch this week) however unbeknown to us St Albans had also just put in an approach, and after speaking with him yesterday, St Albans was always going to be his first choice as they are his home town club, and he still only lives 5 minutes from the ground!
