Are you fishing to find out what striker we've signed, RR? ha ha !

No news on any of our possible signings yet, the suspense is killing me ! ?

Just looked at Josh Hutchinson's profile.

He caught the eye banging in the goals for Potter Bar, was signed by Wealdstone, then loaned out to H&Y and eventually signed for Bath City.

Made 29 appearances for Bath scoring only 2 goals and has ended up back at PB.

On the subject of strikers, Potters Bar beat Kingstonian 2-1 the other night and looking at the PB team one player that I thought would go on to better things was Josh Hutchinson.

Wealdstone signed him from PB couple of seasons back but for some reason never really made it at Wealdstone.

I don't know Josh Hutchinson, must be one that's passed me by.

On the strikers front I would have thought the two strikers Jack Mazzone and Max  Blackmore from Met Police and the Harrow Borough pair of Dylan Kearney and Ryan Moss must be on the Slough radar, as Mazzone has 16 goals to his name, Blackmore has 17, Kearney has 18 and Moss has 14. A good tally for premier division south.

I've seen Mazzone and Kearney play but don't know the other two. Mind you it's no good signing just anyone because we need a striker fast, plus there is the leap to make from Premier division to Conference South, so it's never a forgone conclusion they would be successful at a higher club but I would have thought one of them named must be worth a punt at getting, if not for this season but definitely the new pre-season, unless we've got bigger fry on the horizon. Trouble is bigger fry come with bigger price tags.

We all love to see the best talent but for me I don't want to see Slough bust the bank doing it. I would rather them be sensible with the dosh, when it comes to signings.

If there are going to be any announcements I would anticipate them coming after tonight’s training session.

Yes I think you are right, Curtis. It will probably be the Friday blockbuster ! ha ha!

I might be wrong but didn't Jack Mazzone play for Godalming?

I've never heard of Max Blackmore.

I think Ryan Moss has been around the block a few times and as far as I'm aware Dylan Kearney hasn't shown so far that he can cut it at this level.

Yes Jack Mazzone played Godalming. Max Blackmore came to prominence playing for Westfield fc.

Dylan Kearney, I haven't seen play for a couple of seasons so I can't say whether he would cut the mustard or not. He certainly didn't look like he could a few seasons ago but players do progress with the right guidance. The one thing Dylan Kearney is doing now, is finding the back of the net on a regular basis. He wasn't doing that seasons ago, so he must have progressed.

For me the trouble at Slough, is we ask too much of our strikers at times. We expect them to chase every ball. I stand nearby to a supporter who shouts at the forwards to chase everything, back to defence and back to attack, like a yo-yo!  I think he want's to watch a greyhound instead of a human goal scorer !

Yes, I like to see forwards close down defenders who have the ball but with my number 9 I wouldn't expect him to do midfielders work in every game. To me his priority is to stay onside and to put the ball into the oppositions net. End of.

So Dylan Kearney might not be an exceptional footballer like say, Chris Flood but if he can find the back of the net regularly by being in the right place at the right time, that my boy, is worth it's weight in gold to any team, so I certainly would take a look at him, if nothing else.

NB, Remember George Friel for Woking [when he came to Slough he got the Slough striker curse! ha ha!] or Tony Boot. Neither were great footballers but both knew how to score goals for fun and currently, that is what we need from one, out of the four strikers we use.

Max Blackmore is an interesting one.

Looking at his profile (no age given) he was playing in the USA for a while and when he came back he signed for Westfield (possibly for the second time) scoring 90 goals in 81 games over two seasons.

He signed for Met Police this season and has scored 21 goals in 17 appearances and seems to have built a good striking partnership with Mazzone.

No indication of his age but seems a player that has progressed and is still scoring.

Very good scoring ratio. I was impressed when I saw his record. Think he is 23.

What has happened to Staines Town FC this season? Real shame seeing them lanquishing at the foot of the table in their division. Just goes to show what a good chairman can do for a club. The new incumbents have been a total disaster for Staines FC. Also, if you get it wrong with your managerial appointments, it's always likely that the team will end up on a crash course to nowhere. The Staines Massive won't be happy !

On the Enfield forum, there is a lot of disgruntled fans going on about Andy Leese and wanting him out. To them, his team's football has been dire and their form has been patchy at best. I thought AL would have done better there by now but he has only been at the club, one and a half seasons and to me it does seem premature talking about getting him sacked, when he has had to rebuild the whole squad from scratch. Enfield currently sit in 10th in the table and can still make the play offs, hardly the worst position, when you look at where Staines are.

None of us want to watch dull football play but sometimes a team needs to develop through difficult times to flourish. I think the Enfield lot, are jumping the gun to give AL the elbow just yet but it seems par for the course for all football clubs in any division now, that managers are let go of, on the slightest of things.

I wonder what would happen to Slough if Bakes and Unders were to leave for any reason. Not that someone couldn't do as good a job but on the whole, they are going to be a tough act to follow and our team has been blessed having them at the helm. [ Bakes and Unders you can give me that tenner later !! ha ha ha!].

Take a look at Staines Town Twitterfeed Club statement implying criminal activities by unnamed party(ies) which may have damaged the clubs interests

Glennie, I didn't say Dylan Kearney wasn't any good just that he hadn't proved himself at our level let alone in the National League.

I see he's signed a contract until the end of next season.

It's a great chance for the lad so good luck to him.

One would assume that Paul Doswell has seen Dylan play (or maybe not) but I just wonder how many games he'll start or how many minutes he'll get for the remainder of this season.

Well, he wouldn't have signed him if he isn't going to play !

Sounds like we're going down the loan route again, by what Unders says in a Slough Observer article, just seen on Twitter.

Now we’ve potentially got 5 strikers! Some fans are never happy... I think we’re all praying this pro forward is miles better than the last one! Wondering who the other local forward is... could be a number of clubs I think obviously lower league so Ascot, Bracknell, Windsor, Chalfont, Beaconsfield, Hayes???

I was wondering if the local striker [ mentioned in the Maidenhead Advertiser] was from Hayes and Yeading, that of Duncan Culley as he played for Hampton a couple of seasons ago and is fairly experienced and has scored about 15 goals this season [30 last season]. Other than him I haven't the foggiest.

As you say Glen, let's hope this loan signing works out better than the last one we had.

I doubt Hayes would allow one of their better players to be dual registered, it’s likely to be a youngster instead of a ‘seasoned pro’. We may not even see this kid as it appears he’ll train with us to gauge his ability and only if he really impresses then he may get into the squad.

The way you've put it, Glen, that of a loan signing that might be as bad as Dejon, and a youngster who may not get a look in or any game time, is hardly selling it to me ! ha ha ! Talk about anti climax !
