League leaders Woking have signed Paul Hodges on a contract until the end of the season. He has clearly impressed a very demanding manager.

You could see he had ability and another season under his belt at a lower level has obviously done him the world of good.

I thought he had looked good that pre-season with us but like our managers wouldn't have gone for him at that time. So whether he would have been a revelation or a flop for us then, we will never know.

 

So far with Woking they've predominantly used him as a sub, though recently he has played the odd full game.

He has definitely got something,in the way of football ability and by the sound of it he has been the spark that has got Woking back into games, when they haven't been playing well. I think Manny Williams has been that for Slough the last two seasons.

 

I still don't see why he would be better than what we had/or have got at Slough, just because he's doing well at Woking. He might be having a purple patch now but it doesn't mean to say he will be the answer to all Woking's prayers for the whole season.

 

If any player plays in a successful team, players can look world beaters but it doesn't always mean that they are.

I think we've missed out on far better players [who we could of gone for] than Paul Hodges over the past couple of seasons but the players we have recruited have been a success, so what's the big deal over Paul Hodges.

I think it's just some people, myself included, thought that Paul Hodges looked promising when he came to us but never really thought that he would make it at Woking with the strong squad that they've assembled.

 

Just goes to show how wrong some people can be. Yes, it's early doors but full credit to the lad he's given it a go and so far it's paid off.

Peterborough have a big squad and no disrespect to Matty but he’s probably near the bottom in terms playing chances at the moment. So there may be a chance but on the other hand wouldn’t be surprised either if they said no.

Matt Stevens is with us until January so Peterborough would have to make it to the third round to use him (assuming they don't recall him early). AT which point they would likely be playing their first team.

Blimey that’s some dealing with Mr ‘Negotiater’ Fry to get that agreed! Could be vital having Matty available hopefully for another decent cup run even more so this season with so much money at stake. If we made the 1st round which is ‘just’ 3 wins away we’d make £49,000 in just prize money!
