A couple of non league snippets

I see Staines’ new owners have announced a 10 year plan to get into the football league. I wonder if they have the finance to back that up or it’s a load of hot air, time will tell. They’ve never managed to attract the crowds required to push on even when they’ve been doing well. But as we know ourselves being surrounded by many other teams just doesn’t help, hopefully we can build on our wicked average gate of 666 and push that we’ll into the 700’s.

I'll be disappointed if we only get into the 700's.

Somewhere near the 1000+ I would like to think is well achievable.

23 league games + P/O Semi-Final   689.4

All home games (30)  710.3

Yes 666 was the league only average. RR there’s no way we’ll average near 1,000! That could only possibly happen if we got 3 or 4 sell outs (only Woking might come near that) or were top. Hopefully with some quality additions this summer I feel we can be comfortably mid table and would hope we could average near 750.

Would we get many M'head supporters attend our games when they are playing away?

I would say possibly only a hand full if that.

Also some floating supporters might come to AP if M'head are away but wouldn't think it would be that many.

Seems Nas Bashir,Tristan Lewis and Glenn Skivington are taking the reins at Burnham FC. Not sure who's doing the financing.

Yep seems to be more big ambitious talk coming out from Burnham. 2 of those 3 mentioned have links to youth football so that’s good in terms of bringing through players via Burnham. Not sure who or if there’s actual money being spent on the club, no official line yet... just can’t wait!

Weren't they involved at Beaconsfield and H & Y and the latter were glad to see the back of them so good luck to Burnham.

Nas was at Beaconsfield with his academy players.

Tristan was at Hayes and Yeading as assistant manger, coach and manager, all in different spells. Last season he was at Welling as director of football.

Don't know who Glen Skivington is. Presume he's an ex player. His name rings a bell with me but haven't been able to remember where from.

It seems that Burnham are looking to head towards developing academy players long term but also want to achieve promotion back to the Hellenic Premier division, at the first attempt.

Not sure Paul Shone will be kept on as manager, so that could mean another influx of new first team players and more turmoil, which is hardly conducive for getting promoted, as it will be like starting all over again.

The Non League newspaper is a good read today and features an excellent two page spread on Slough's play off victory and an interview with Bakes about his [and Unders] and the club's ambitions.

Worth buying a copy.

Please enlighten those of us who haven’t managed to get hold of a copy..... what are the club’s ambitions?
