Full time players will be youngsters who are available to train day time and evenings coupled with older more experienced players who will be available to train in the evenings.

 

So although full time in name they will not be getting paid full time money.

 

To be fair, Terry Brown has done well with the calibre of player he has signed at Basingstoke and as a football manager he's no one's fool. So I was  harsh when I said 'money for old rope'.

He is clever in that he has moulded a team together,which more than holds it's own in this division, and yet many of the players aren't even premier division standard.

That is good management.

 

I was just irked that a club like Basingstoke claim to be struggling financially, and yet they must have one of the more costly non-league managers around, and then they decide to make him the grand title of 'Director of Football' which doesn't seem like they are lowering their expenditure.

 

Perhaps it's swings and roundabouts,in that the DoF/ Manager is dear but the players are cheap,so it balances itself out?

I'm pleased for Perry, he's got a very good goal scoring record with us..... I wouldn't be surprised if he has an average of a goal every 90 minutes or better for league matches for us (if you divide total minutes he has actually been on the pitch by goals scored).

For Perry to join late in the season and to integrate with the team so quickly and score the goals he has is superb.

He and Manny last night as in all the games they play just hassle and put the defenders under pressure from the first to the last minute letting them know they have been in a game superb.

I was looking at Perry’s record earlier today, and his first 10 league appearances weren’t that great with only 3 goals, but in his last seven league match appearances he has scored 7 goals..... and he has only played a total of about 500 minutes in those seven matches, averaging a goal about every 75 minutes.

Quite impressive from Perry. I'd put the first 10 games down to new surroundings, gelling with team mates,learning how the the team plays.
