So, Hungerford budget cuts see player Steffen Brown leave along with the manager Jon Boardman and assistant Gary McDonald.

 

They are not safe from relegation, so maybe a bit early to invoke such changes.

I’d guess if its to do with finances, then the decision is out of their hands? I wonder if our managers are looking to poach any of their players?

Not the first or the last to have to face the stark reality of playing at a higher level on miniscule crowds.

As with many clubs, Hungerford are punching about their natural level which I’d say was one step below us. They’ll do well to stay at Conference South for much longer as no doubt their better players will be leaving between now and the summer and they won’t be replaced like for like. Regarding Meecham I’d guess he’d be fairly local to Hungerford or he wouldn’t have signed. When you’re out of favour or not getting game time you’ll consider all options and obviously he felt he’d rather travel to St Neots than not play plus remember he’s played for them before he got a big move to Newport which didn’t work out.

He lives some distance away from Hungerford, I believe Gloucester way or something off the top of my head... not local in the slightest if anyone was thinking for us.

Shame to read Innsy needs an operation which might rule him out for the season. We’d certainly need his experience and skill in this vital business end of the season. I’d guess we need to await definite timelines before we talk about bringing in reinforcements.

With ‘the beast’ arriving early next week it’s quite likely the Royston game will be postponed. Someone said we only have 1 midweek slot left but also have the B&B Cup to fit in. Does the county cup take priority over league games as that’ll mean we’ll have at least one Thursday league game.

In Neil's post on one of the other threads, the cup semi final was pencilled in to one of two spare Tuesdays that we currently have (27th March). That leaves one spare.

Whether it works out like that only time will tell, but I agree it's not looking promising for the Royston game so that may well take the one remaining Tuesday.
