A couple of non league snippets

Hereford will be the title favourites then everyone else will be battling for playoffs. I doubt I will be the only one quietly confident we can make it in the playoffs.

If we don't pick up any serious injuries in pre season and we can hit the ground running I'm quietly confident that we can avoid the play-offs and have a real go at winning the league.

Maybe you should take a look at the players they have signed. Match winners in abundance and goal galore.

But have they?? Don't get me wrong they will be decent, however the lads from Merthyr were good players, but not world beaters, and of the others they have signed one from Gloucester who by all accounts is a good player, and then two from Evesham....

Won't talk about other budgets etc as none of us know, but I was expecting them to sign lots from conference clubs, but so far they have not done that.

So no doubt they will be good, but for me at the moment I don't see them as favourites, however I did not see them last season, so only time will tell.

One of the two from Evesham, Garyn Preen, who had been on loan from Hungerford is probably the best winger I've seen in the last few seasons.

Added to arguably the best striker in non league with John Mills who scored goals for fun. Partnered by Symons who between them got 57 league goals last year.

Just behind them you had Rob Purdie who has plenty of League Football experience and scores a few goals from midfield.

Just over a week ago they sold just over 1,000 season tickets (with some of the highest prices in the league) so they will have plenty of cash to splash if and when they need it.

Their season ticket prices:

Adult - £184-207

Concessions - £161-184

Under 18s - £20

With the 1,000 ticket at least already sold gives the six figures (£)

Look at the good stadium teams and crowds Weymouth have had over the years and they have found it difficult to get over the finishing line.

SRJ, to say that John Mills is arguably the best striker in non league is certainly a debatable point. Although he has scored goals for fun I think you've got to look at where he's scored his goals and at what level i.e. Didcot in division one and now Hereford. He's had trials at clubs from a higher level and I'm sure if you were right some of those clubs would have made him an offer he couldn't refuse by now.

A Natural goal scorer like him will score goals at any level, particularly when he averages roughly a goal per match.

And BTW he would already be playing at a higher level had Hereford not offered him so much money a few years ago.

No doubting Hereford will have the biggest available budget doesn't mean they can spend it all as they will also have the biggest overheads too. Of the players they've brought in so far I wouldn't say it'll make them title favourites but I'd expect them top 5.

Only scored those goals at div 1 level and below so we'll see how many he scores this season.

Did Hereford offer him more than a Conference level club?

I don't know the number but when he left Didcot they said Hereford offered him more money than anyone else despite offers from clubs in higher leagues.

I've read the reports and they seem to say that he was offered a lot of money compared to what Didcot could offer him.

Because he's scored so many goals he's inevitably had trials at Conference National/south level and I'm sure if he was that good he would have joined one before now.

He might well continue banging the goals in at Southern Premier level, we'll have to wait and see.
