3Spirit - Manny played as a striker away to Dorchester and was excellent and could certainly play there more often, but as you have mentioned he can play in a few other roles as well.

 

It seems like Bakes and Unders have recruited a few players this summer who can play in a few different roles giving us more flexibility in line up and formations. Until the beginning of last season  Neil and Jon were pretty well set on a traditional 442 but now seem a lot more open to change it up a bit and are starting to get more out of their squad. This coming season I am fairly sure we can expect to see more flexibility to starting line ups to counter and surprise our opponents.

 

Last season playing the narrow diamond we surprised a few teams who didn't know how to defend against it and with our added quality and creativity mainly through Manny and Dunn we dominated most games. With essentially 3 narrow attacking players you can create an overload to the opposition defence and if they don't have someone tracking your CAM then he can roam freely and find gaps to exploit.

Bakes and Unders preferred 4-4-2 still has it's place but now we have players that can adapt to various shapes at any given time. I've been hoping for this for awhile

In this Premier division you need more than just the run of the mill,orthodox way to beat well organised teams. Our managers have now got to grips with what this division holds and have seen the merits of adapting their style to get good results.

 

I hope in pre-season, we get to see the odd bit of experimentation in formation and with the odd player or two in unfamiliar positions.That is what I like best about pre-season; the chance to see new players and improvise the way we play, either in shape or with players in unfamiliar positions.

The art of this, is to learn what a player can or can't do.

Although the B&B may have to pay more for the hire, the higher gate should more than compensate for the cost.

Personally I will be going to Uxbridge. The only caveat being if volunteers are required to help run the game at AP then I would be prepared to be around if required.

Hitchin suffer another blow as that well known player  Robbie Burns    has decided to stop playing football for a while due to family commitments.

Hitchin have certainly been weakened as have Merthyr which can only be good news for us.

Not forgetting Chesham who have been decimated by players leaving ( mainly joining Enfield)

 

It will be interesting how the replacements in these teams shape up but it makes it harder to forecast which clubs will be challenging for top spots.

but who is to say that any replacements hitchin or merthyr bring in are not going to be as good or better than the players that have left, only the end of next season will this question be really answered, so i say bring it on can't wait.

Hereford will be the title favourites then everyone else will be battling for playoffs. I doubt I will be the only one quietly confident we can make it in the playoffs.

The B&B final is between Maidenhead and Hungerford with presumably SBC responsible for stewards etc.
