Does that go for managers and post match reports as well?

Only giving praise after a good performance but saying never mind chaps after a poor performance?

IMO supporting a team is all about being fair but honest with opinions after a game without any of the unnecessary slagging off of the team or any individual player.

It s in the word Supporters are supposed to support🤔

There is one very basic statistic that is the difference between last season and this season & it is that at this stage last season we had scored 10 more goals…. and by the end of this season we will probably be somewhere between 12 & 15 goals short of the 81 league goals we scored last season.

We didn’t start this season with players that had scored two-thirds of our goals last season, including our top two scorers (Goddard 15 & Minhas 14). Spasov will likely match one of these, but we haven’t had the benefit of a second 15 goal a season player.

Yes but some fans have blind loyalty which I find odd!

On Saturday I left home at 9.45am drove to Slough got on the coach to Welling and got home after 9pm…

I never leave home thinking we will lose why waste my time and money spending all day being negative gets you nowhere.

Even at half time I believed we could get a result…

I think you're right in saying that by the end of the season we'll probably have scored less goals than last season, part due to not having a 15 goal scorer from midfield from the off like a Goddard and part due to Sam Evans having not played a lot due to injury.

Defensively has also been an achilles heel for us as there are currently only 4 sides who have conceded more goals.

This can be put down to not replacing players like Temi Eweka and Tyrese Dyce.

To address some of the thoughts of people on here around the owners and the "right" way to do things. Just seen on twitter, Hampton and Richmond LOST £1.1million in season 23/24!!!!!!

I'd much rather see our club built the right way, rather than someone throwing money in and trying to short cut things. Sustainability is the key IMO.

Last season after 36 matches we had scored 66 & conceded 57…. & had 54 points.

This season we have scored 56 & conceded 57 & have 43 points.

So, we have just scored 10 goals less which has resulted in 11 less points.

You have to wonder how many of the clubs trying to get promoted are or will be in a similar position if they don't achieve that goal! Look at Ebbsfleet this season and what happened to Dover, Dartford & Havant in the past. Of course there is the conundrum that is Dulwich with their 3000+ gates.

Ebbsfleet is the one that sticks out always for me. £2 million loss per season in NLS. Must be more than that in NL and in 5-6 seasons have gone nowhere (about to be relegated right back with us).

Maidenhead lost 2 more home points tonight and are now 22nd with teams above them having 1 or 2 games in hand!

Sounds like you’re enjoying giving these regular updates on the demise of Maidenhead!

Spot on SF.

But in the mean time and until we can inject some more money into the playing side to be successful it's very likely to be survival mode in the NLS on average gates well below the 1,000 target.

True RR, but the old saying of Rome wasn't built in a day has to apply here. I also think that's why the match day experience stuff, the massive work that is going on with the younger fans (schools, football camps etc) is what will help. You build those things up and people will want to keep coming back regardless of performance. Ge the core up to 800/900 average regardless of league position, increase the sponsorships etc for the finances, then improve the team and the performances and then the casual fans start to attend more and that's where your 1000+ comes from.

Of course, all of the above is both great in theory and very much easier said than done BUT IMO, the club is on the right path.

All what you say is correct but we may have to accept relegation as part of this process too. We will get left behind if extra squad investment isn’t made that’s obvious. Yes we can get lucky and have a season like last where we over achieved but can’t expect it every season especially if it involves losing our best players.

Agreed Glen and I think (IMO of course) the key to the best players thing is ensuring there top players for us don't take sideways steps. Currently, we can't fault anyone Temi or Leon going either up leagues or full time as well can't offer that. Equally someone like Beedon or Lucan who weren't for the management team don't matter.

The ones that are problematic  are if, as an example, we had wanted to keep Lexus and he went to Farnborough for £50 a week more (or something like that you get the point). Thus allowing a rival in the league to become stronger. That we need to actively avoid.

Having said that, I wouldn't want the squad or STFC to compromise financially just to keep a player. I'm fairly sure this year there has been players that we have looked at bringing in who have wanted way too much money, so we didn't bring them in. Clearly Scott, the board and whomever else is involved in the process have a vision and value of each player and that's what they will go to. I love that from the club  as a whole as that is what keeps clubs sustainable.

If, as you say, we are "left behind" and need to take a step back to take 2 forward, then so be it. I'm sure every Slough fan would rather have a club in the Southern Prem than no club at all.

For what it's worth (which isn't very much😂) i think the "new" owners and the club as a whole are doing a brilliant job at building thus far and long may it continue.

I see where you're coming from SF.

Yes, all of those things you've mentioned will improve attendances to a degree but imo not to the extent that a successful side fighting for the play-offs and promotion will.

Lately we've seen attendances drop off a bit and I don't think it's any coincidence that it's connected to our performances and league position.

It's a really tricky one because we all want the ground to be improved and also have a successful side but as we haven't got rich owners their decision has been to concentrate mainly on improving the ground and rely on Scott to forage for cheaper players in the lower leagues.

Survival in the NLS for this and maybe next season is their aim.

Just on the ground topic, what does everyone want to see built/improved? Maybe a top 3? For me I’d definitely like to see at least one behind the goal stand have the current poor terracing removed and proper steep ideally not metal terracing installed, can even keep the roof but may fill in the gap between the roof and fence for obvious reasons! Also would love to see a proper permanent fanzone installed (opposite the main stand as there’s plenty of room). Not sure what else yet…

Definitely steeper terracing like Hemel have added with the astro on as its better in wet weather and easier to clean/clear from what I've experienced, not sure behind the goals will be changed but certainly can fit it over the far side on both sides of the stand.(would love big deep terracing but doubt we'll get that due to cost)

Looks like Hampton were saved by outside people buying shares in the club.
