A couple of non league snippets

Is it me ?

I'm definitely starting to get a complex about this.

I'm sure I bored all of you on here during pre-season with my complaints at what was stated at the time to be season tickets only available if you had a smartphone.

I was really pleased yesterday to see that the club was offering a discounted ticket for supporters for the four home league games  we have in November.

Great idea.

I have just now bought one of these on-line discounted tickets.

Well, I've paid my money, but I don't seem to have a ticket that I can take with me to the turnstiles.

I assumed the process would be exactly the same as when I purchase an online ticket for an individual game, or when I had bought a 10 game season pass for the last 10 games of last season.

Namely that I would receive a confirmation  email which contained a "QR" code that I could print out at home to take with me to the turnstiles.

Easy-peasy.

Unless I have done something wrong, and please tell me if I have, that hasn't happened in this case.

I have received an email confirmation, BUT there is no "QR" code attached to it.

The email  does say

"We have added your ticket to your fanbase wallet"

and there is a box that says

"View ticket in your wallet".

When I click this box it changes to another page which has a box that says

"View ticket".

and when I click this box a small square appears on my screen  with my name, date, order number and November saver  on it, and a smaller "QR" code that is extremely faint and blurry.

Much too faint and blurry to be printable and readable.

The fact that this confirmation email says that the ticket is "in my wallet", makes me guess that it is something attributable to an "app" in a mobile phone, and that this "QR" code will only be properly visible on a smartphone ?

Again please tell me if I am mistaken.

Nowhere in the club information details about this promotion or during the actual buying process does it say you won't be able to print this ticket at home.

Yes, I know, as my wife tells me till she is blue in the face, that 99% of people do have a smartphone, and that if I had one I wouldn't encounter these type of problems.

I'm determined never to have one.

I tell my wife that  the time will come when she will have to get the flippin' ok from her smartphone before she can scratch her backside.

Again, if I have done something wrong in the booking procedure, please tell me, but as things stand I am really not impressed.

 And ticketless.

Kev, download the Fanbase App on your PC, you will have to sign in/register. There you can view your tickets and should be able to print off your QR code.

You know your wife is right of course.................

Well there's good and bad news , but mostly good.

Bernie, thank you for your suggestion.

Funnily enough, that's exactly the same answer I got from the club when I contacted them earlier today.

The thing is, I mentioned previously that I get a fuzzy, indistinct "QR" code right at the end after I have clicked all the boxes in the confirmation email.

This "QR" code is totally unprintable and unreadable.

When I log into my "Fanbase app" on my PC , sign in/register into my account and click on "view tickets" as suggested, the same blurry "QR" image comes up for this ticket purchase..

No difference.

There is however I notice now a line in red right at the bottom of this "QR" code which says

"Valid from Fri 01 Nov to Sat 30 Nov".

Does this mean that the ticket and the "QR" code  only becomes properly visible and in a condition ready to be used/printed only from Friday ?

If I buy something this way  I'd expect it in this instance to be ready and available to be used/printed as soon as  I'd purchased it, as are every other on-line match tickets I've bought in the past.

If I buy a match ticket on a Monday I don't expect it only to become available and ready to be printed five days later.

This may have no connection to my on-line ticket problems this time, but  if it has I think that is a pretty poor design fault.

Thankfully, when the club replied to my enquiry they somehow sent me a copy of my "QR" code for this transaction, which I have now printed out here at home .

Otherwise despite doing what Bernie and the club suggested as a solution, I'd still be stuck in the same position as I was this morning.

At least I can get in the ground now to watch the games .👍

Just an update to my boring November four game ticket purchase saga.

I'd left you with not being able to print the "QR" code from my purchase on Wednesday because it appeared too faint and too indistinct in my confirmation email to do so.

( That made me think it was only suitable for a smartphone application. )

The club in their reply to my direct contact with them said that all I had to do was to go into the Fanbase "app" on my PC, enter my log in/registration details, go to the "my tickets"  section  and a printable "QR" code would be there.

I did as requested but a printable "QR" code was not there.

There was though, as I mentioned before, a small  line in red print which said

"Valid from Fri 01 Nov to Sat 30 Nov".

Did this mean that I would be able to actually see and print out this "QR" code only from Friday ?

Well, today is Friday and I have found out the answer.

If I now go through all  the "click here" boxes in my confirmation email from Wednesday, and also today log into my Fanbase account, a printable, absolutely clear  "QR" code is there.

If that had been there on Wednesday when I bought the ticket I wouldn't have wasted my time and yours wondering what on earth was going on with my purchase.

My knowledge of computer systems is extremely basic.

How is this tech pillock supposed to know that I won't be able to print my ticket out at home until  several day's after I've purchased it ?

Now I'm sure the club in good faith told me  that I would be able to print out this QR code on Wednesday when I told them my problem, but they were wrong.

They obviously weren't aware of only being able to print the QR code from Friday, but they did on Wednesday send me a  home printable copy of the QR code I needed which they had at their end, which was very good of them.

But something was fundamentally  wrong in my eyes in the way this original on-line transaction was executed , resulting in as I have said above, me wasting my time and yours dealing with this situation.

Hello HR sorry about your problems again but when you buy online you should automatically receive your receipt and QR code should be clear and not blurry and instantly ready to use.

As I told you about my season ticket i received receipt QR code and print automatically,

Two months ago I booked National Express coach tickets for upcoming December trip received receipt and QR code instantly and printed it off instantly and ready to use.

Yes Steve, that's exactly what I would expect to happen when I buy a ticket.

Didn't happen this time though !

It looks like once again Kettering Town are splashing the cash; they have signed former Celtic, Norwich City and Sheffield Wednesday striker Gary Hooper to go alongside their recent signing of former Newcastle United striker Nile Ranger.

It seems that Nile Ranger is justifying this as he scored the winner vs Northampton Town last night.
