Arbour Vale

As usual the Stoke Poges people don't know what they are talking about.

I challenge them at 3 o'clock to go down past Abour Vale turn left into shaggy calf land and then left into Wexham road. Then right into Knolton Way at the roundabout go to the end then left onto The Frithe, at the lights do another left onto Uxbridge Road.  At the next lights do another left, carry on until you come to Norway Drive turn left there. Then at the end a right back onto Wexham Road, you will be on the way to Wexham Park Hospital. Having passed 6 schools in about 2 miles.

This riot on say a Saturday would take 6 minutes,   I have tried it and it took me 52 minutes. Not bad for a Ambulance riot, I hope no one gets ill and needs one at 3 o'clock because you've got no hope.

AND THEY WANT TO PUT ANOTHER SCHOOL THERE.

The only reason they don't want a School in Stoke Poges is they will loose there subsidised coach runs.

The article say's that because of our promotion to the 'Premier Division' and because we are now a 'League Team' we've outgrown Arbour Vale.

You couldn't make it up could you.

The clueless NIMBY's of Stoke Poges Parish Council think we've been promoted to the Barclay's Premier Division  :cheesy (2):

It's all very well laughing at the ill-informed article but when it's read by the equally ill-informed who believe it, it doesn't do us any favours. People need to respond with calm, factual statements that set out our position very clearly.

Going by what the ground exhibition plans said a few years ago (320 seats), they may actually be right. Given that we have achieved promotion to step 3, the ground would not be suitable for any further push up to the conference South (where I believe you need 500 covered seats including at least 250 in one place) without further work and I don't know what the expansion plan could be.

Obviously not trying to side with the people of Stoke Poges but it's an interesting point now we have achieved promotion before getting the ground.

I appreciate that Mark, like I said I'm not trying to side with the people of Stoke Poges (personally I think they just need to deal with the fact that a school needs to go there given how easy the government has made it for free schools to be set up) but I'm just saying is an interesting point for the future.

IF we were to build a new stadium, our ambition has to be the Conference (at some stage in our existance, whenever that may be), so you would 'like to think' that they have plans set up, so 'should' we get to higher standards where more seats are required, it wouldnt be too much of a hassle to add them. I do hope someone has taken this possibility into account.

I've posted the following comment :

I thought you may want to be aware of the following before you use your facts officially.

I would like to inform the people who wrote this article, and those who presented the quotes that Slough Town Football Club is not going to be a league side after the recent promotion. The fact is that the club are going to be promoted to the Southern Premier Division, from the Southern 1st Division.

This is effectively a promotion from the 8th division level to the 7th division level. With the top four divisions being for league clubs.

Ground grading requirements for a non-league team at the 7th division level are not that dis-similar to those of the division the club have been promoted from.

In fact the minor changes that may be required to the original plans would not affect the footprint of the ground or the height of the ground that has been put forward for consideration.

The editor is going to amend the online "getbucks" and contact Stoke Poges council to tell them the facts are wrong.

The paper had tried to contact the club yesterday before the article was published but couldn't get hold of anyone.

These people will stop at nothing. When Horsham FC's application for planning permission for a 3,000 overall capacity enclosed ground on an existing sports ground was refused in 2007, a prominent local councillor got great political capital from trumpeting that we planned to build "a 3,000 seater stadium". They have to be stopped in their tracks before it's too late. Good to see that an immediate and explanatory rebuttal had been placed on the site in question.

Thought I better get in there quick to limit the damage done. Wish these councils would check their facts first. Trouble is some people believe everything in the papers.

The article by Jo-Anne Rowney is atrocious from so many angles, major factual errors, poor grammar, total lack of research.

Jo-Anne are you on work experience? look for another career as it looks like journalism is not for you.

To give her credit, she did correct the article after I spoke to her. She freely admitted she knew nothing about football (must be a Wycombe fan then..)

Also she tried to contact the club (John Tebbit) yesterday to confirm Stoke Poges councils work of fiction.

Hopefully no harm done, I am awaiting an email back from the council to explain why they made an official statement without checking their facts.
