Nope Blounty will not be with us pre season, I think he may end up at Egham if he decides to play again next season.

Having seen him the other day when I was out with Warren and Foulser he mentioned that his groin was a lot better and had just started running again.

So best of luck to him.

Reading the pre-season update, Scott Harris has a problem with his knee stemming from last season and is due an MRI scan in two weeks time.

I'd imagine that would mean he would, at best, miss the start of the season and will possibly be well into the season before he would be available to play.

That leaves us with 3 fit forwards, barring any other mishaps to start the new season with.

I would like to think that during pre-season we will be looking at other forwards to fill the inevitable void.

Beat me to it 3spirit. Now magically appeared   :)

I presume all the players listed have actually signed, including Rummy and Gareth Risbridger?

Eddie smith banned for 1st 2 games as well isn't he so we could definitely be short up front early on

Yes, forgot about Smithy's 2 game ban.

As you say, that means we'll probably start with only two fit forwards, providing they don't pick up an injury in pre-season.

Rummy is still in the US so hasn't signed a form as yet but has committed to signing for us when he returns in November.

Due to work commitments 'Ris' was not able to train last week but we are expecting him to start tomorrow night. He hasn't yet signed on as we haven't seen him yet and we will of course need to assess his fitness this week before doing so.

Just in relation to the question about strikers, well we are pretty relaxed about things, either way we should be in a better position than we were going into last season with no available strikers.

We have Johnnie and Adam both available, we also have Warren who can play up front as an option, we also have the opportunity to change formation slightly.

Scott has been doing sessions on his own, and was quite positive after Thursday, so we may see him back sooner than we think.

But either way we are still not actively looking for a forward (not to say if something turns up we wont look at it), we do have Gavin Smith training with us currently, who is someone we know very well, he is an experienced striker in the mould of a Tim Sills where he is a target man, however he did not play last year due to family commitments.

Following on from my message about Gareth Risbridger earlier in the week he came down on Tuesday night for a chat with Bakes and I. Due to his current work commitments he is not going to be able to join us for pre-season training and with a young family to support he has to put this first.

Obviously we completely understand his position and for now we will discount him from our plans. He really needed a good pre-season under his belt and without this it will be very hard for him to get back to where he needs to be fitness-wise but you can never say never so we'll stay in touch with him obviously.
