One we're due to meet this year is Dan Cann. Obviously a better player with age,as he was lack lustre for Slough.

Agree with Marcus. Coyne just wanted to win on the pitch. He was a winner. Also as for age pretty sure he's under 30.

In terms of Dan Cann wasn't he given an awful song/tune if I remember rightly by the supporters behind the goal at Slough?

I'm amazed Chris and Don Juan, that you didn't see Paul Coyne as trouble. I wouldn't say his general play on the field is the problem but his attitude is.

IMO as good as he was on the pitch,he was the catalyst for stirring up disharmony in the team and Steve Bateman couldn't control him.You only had to look at the effect he had on Stuart Swift when they played together.

I believe Steve Bateman ultimately failed in promotion in his latter seasons because of the dysfunction and lack of harmony,a good few of his first team had ie Coyne,Sonner,Burnell,Swift,Murphy,Burgess - all moaners and yet all talented players in their own right.

Surely you can see the strides we've made under Bakes and Unders. Yes we have the odd moaner now ie Jamie McClurg and Ed Smith but we've not got half a team of them and we are much more focussed as a group.

Of course, however, I think our current managers could deal with any "troublemakers" (not saying coyne is one IMHO) very well anyway....

One bad apple spoils the barrel.

Having just listened to the interview, looks like we are going to be defensively stronger this season. Not saying we were bad last season but in many games we were very open and games tended towards plenty of goals at both ends!

Which the purist in me enjoys but think we will need to adapt our style for the rigours of this new division.

This season looks like we are building a side difficult to beat, which is exactly what we are going to need against the better sides.

Well pleased with the two signings. Can't wait to see them in action in a Slough shirt.

Well pleased with Luke Knight and Reese Yorke joining the rebels.

Two top quality signings!

Great work from Bakes and Unders getting them on board.

I think this really shows that we're in the Southern Premier to progress as a team and not just to stand still.

Welcome to the Rebels Luke and Reese.

COYR!!

Really pleased with the two signings. Reece Yorke has an excellent reputation in this league and will be a good player for us I'm sure and I think there was a thread on this forum a few weeks back on this forum about opposition players that had impressed and Luke Knight was on that list so delighted to get him.

As the managers seemed to suggest in this interview (and I fully agree) that there are some very good players in the Central league who I think could step-up easily. You only have to look at someone like Lewis Hilliard at St Neots who has stepped-up from this level over the past few years and now is considered one of the best players at Premier level.

Just out of interest will Michael Blount be returning for pre-season? I know it was suggested that he might be when he left earlier this season.
