New central defender to replace Dave Woozley?

I know he was forced into playing more games than he planned last season due to Adam Foulser's injury.

I really do hope not!!! Still our best defender IMO. Will easily make the step-back up a league.

Shows how important he is to the side as during those defeats in December he was not involved in any of those games and I thought we missed him badly.

I think another central mid-fielder to complement our existing ones is a must.

Another striker?

I see your point on a big, powerful striker as we will certainly come up against more bigger non nonsense defenders next season.

Dave Woozley is no spring chicken but he is great to have around the team.He proved to the managers last season, that he was still worth a place in the team.As the season progressed he got better with every game, just as he did in the previous season under Steve Bateman.

We know he is entering the twilight of his career and this may be his last season with us but I,for one,am glad he is staying,as his experience and leadership skills are the best we have in our team. He's no mug as a defender either!

Think he will be used less this season, given the fact we now have Dan Simtim and possibly a new defender and with Adam Foulser set to return but certainly worth retaining his services.

As for midfield,I think it right that we add to the competition in that area.

Upfront, even if we keep all 4 players that we have.I would bring another forward in to start the season with. Then let one player go after a couple of months. As good as Ed Smith is [and he is one of my favourite players] he mustn't think that he hasn't got any competition for a starting place in the team IMO.

I noticed Jefferson Louis left Margate last week.May be out of our price range but a proven striker.Somewhat ageing at 35 but he's the sort of player I would look for.Someone with top level experience to complement our young side.

May only be for a short time but certainly a boost to the team, much like how we got Lloyd Owusu,a couple of seasons ago.

At this current stage we are not looking for a new forward, we are happy to take the 4 we have into the new season, and if that needs changing we will deal with that as and when.

In the case of Hatchett who by his standards had an up and down season, mainly due to the fact his personal life was so busy, as he was redeveloping his house to the extent it was a building site, whilst his partner was also heavily pregnant, so was working 16 hour days at times just to get it finished by end of Feb so they could move back in ready for the new baby.

This is all done now, and I think we saw back end of the season, what a nuisance he can be up top, and he is your typical big strong lad, so I think we will see a different side to him this season, also Adam is young enough to improve also, and I thought he put in some really good performances for us.

Afraid you will rarely see big named players come to the club who have been there and done it, unless they still had a real hunger, one of our main criteria when looking and signing players is how hungry are they to better themselves, and be successful.

The 2 lads we have spoken to, and who have verbally committed for next season both fit that mould.

In terms of Dan Sintim he is still a Met Police player, and due to where he lives I think it may be hard for us to get him on a permanent basis.

That's a shame,Neil,about Dan Simtin.

Understand your rhetoric about hunger. Also think from your point of view that this type of player will be easier to handle. We,Slough fans, know what players with over inflated ego's of themselves can be about !

That said, sometimes a sprinkling of real quality shines through. We will have to beg to differ about the forwards !

It is not about players being easy to handle Stuart, as we can both deal with big characters, in fact we already have players in the changing room that on their day can be a test for Jon and I (and we deal with them when we need to), however it is about getting the right mix in the changing room whereby there are no big time charlies and players who are not willing to work for their team mates, and who might be at a club for one reason only!!!

In terms of strikers we scored over 100 goals last season plus 6 in 2 play off games, and that is despite Eddie Smith missing 11 league games, Johnnie Dyer missing at least 12-14, Scott Harris missing 15 plus and only having Adam Cornell for half a season:

If we can keep all 4 fit and competitive, then there is no reason they can not score goals at a level higher.

Grass is not always greener, however if we feel we need to make a change, we will, like we did at numerous stages last season!

Not disagreeing Neil. Just viewing it slightly different ! ha ha !

As I've stated previously, the players from last season deserve their chance this season in a higher league.

I just happen to believe that we should push the boat out for a marquee signing up front.Whether it will be at the start of the season or halfway through.

Nothing at all wrong with the scoring statistics last season and I truly hope they do it again ! but you are going to fail to convince me,that a quality striker wouldn't enhance our team !

Great news that all of last seasons squad have committed for next season.

I think it was always going to be the case with Wooz with travelling etc.

Looking forward to finding out who the two new players are who've committed for next season, sounds like a central defender and a midfielder.

I agree all the players from last season should be given a chance to step up a level or more.

A classic example is Wealdstone F.C. who had two players who went from non league to playing for their countries.

Speaking of Wealdstone, SYCOB had midfielder Nathan Webb on a seasons loan from Wealdstone and he has I think been voted their player of the season.

A very good player and would be a very good aquisition to our midfield.

Should think he'll end up at Burnham.

Did Barnet go up that year? I remember going up on a lovely summers evening and we got slaughtered. Had some old git telling me we were going straight back down.

Yes Brighton Rebel, it was a gorgeous Summers Tuesday evening. It was my first (or second) day at Secondary School.

Wasn't Barry Fry manager then? They took us apart that evening.
