Chairman required Ampthill town fc

Recommended Posts

I won't go into how much the budget was, but believe me it was fairly substantial for this league, fair play to Hanwell as i believe they only paid win bonuses. The other club are ssml.

As far as im aware we only paid travel (Petrol) expenses last season.

Manorfields has had 100k I heard granted to it to clean it up and give a complete new refurb!

Think Buckingham Town will soon become Bletchley Town...

Aren't Clean Slate an mk side? Gates won't be good, but if they weren't expecting good gates at Manor Fields then Ampthill is definitely the bet choice!

Read up on Clean Slate via their website- sound like an excellent club! Wish them all the luck in the world- not many clubs marry morals and football anymore

Now had e-mail to confirm Clean Slate ground share however I believe it needs to be passed by SSML Management Committee once they have received the official ground share agreement before AGM

You heard wrong. You involved at Hanwell Town FC then ?

No but as you said " as far as you are aware only petrol money"

Nothing wrong if paying the odd player, cant see a team winning the Premier without some kind of bonus. That's the way of the world now.

Ok but I was told the players only got paid travel expenses. It is possible to win the SSML Premier Division with out paying players if they are all good mates and enjoy playing in a winning team its been pretty much the same bunch of players for the last two seasons with a few new additions.

Players talk between clubs Savage, especially via social media, and I know one or two players in particular with "loose lips" have told some of our players what they have been earning. Might be just giving it large about money, but from conversations I've been shown, it's more than petrol money.

I agree with OD though. No shame in admitting to chucking a few coins at players, it's the world we live in now. I despise the fact that spartan players earn money, as I'm from a time when people played at this level for the love of their local club, but those days and indeed those players don't exist anymore.

Either way, Hanwell have done it the right way and not entered into an unsustainable financial situation. Everyone should be very proud.

Totally agree Jonno. Sometimes it might not be the actual club paying but other sources might come in and help out without their knowledge. Cant see their top scorer not getting a goal bonus or two.

Take nothing away from Hanwell, deserved the title and from outside looking in, run a very good club and hopefully do well in the Calor Gas.

It was nothing personal Savage.

Savagebee, I don't think paying money is anythig shameful. Look at your squad, do you really think D.Rhone dropped down from Slough (with one of, if not the largest budget in the southern central) to play for petrol money?

Every single club the past 7/8 years who have been promoted have paid money- there's no shame in it!

I was just saying what I have been told and that was that the players just get travel expenses I was also told that the club doesn't want to get in to paying players as it can cause many problems.

Interesting point.

Paying 'wages'  IS  subject to declaration to the 'Tax Man', by both the players and the club.

I know for a fact that several small non-league clubs in the north were subjected to H.M. Revenue inspection a couple of seasons ago.

Once they get their teeth into a club, they will more than likely ask for details of 'expenses', to see if they are justified.

A friend of a friend of mine who I occasionaly have a drink with, works for 'Revenue', and last season he told us that there had been a directive issued to pay special attention to football clubs, so be warned !!
