PROMOTION

Recommended Posts

Hearts will always be my team but I have to say that my interest in Slough has been growing a lot recently.  Helps a lot to actually go to a couple of matches and meet other fans.  The FA Cup matches against Mansfield were good to go to but I'd say it was the NGU match in front of 119 fans that really made me feel like a fan.

Of course, promotion means far more to people who go to a lot of games and have seen the playoff losses live but it was still great for me to listen to Rebels Radio and hear them getting promoted.

I might be staying in London for a couple of weeks in August and if I am then I'll definitely try to make it to a game or two.

No need to get ahead of ourselves but I checked how the promoted teams did last season in the Southern League premier.  6th, 7th, 9th and 20th.  Poole would have made the playoffs if they hadn't been deducted three points.  I think that makes quite promising reading and the great end to the season should leave us optimistic about next year.

Sometimes, Adam, you just find a club that's right. I've followed non-league football since I started going to Wealdstone as a 10 year old when Watford weren't at home. Then for a while I used to watch Walton & Hersham when I lived in Shepperton.

It wasn't until I moved to Slough however that I would describe any team as "my team". As you're finding out there's something special about this club that has us all hooked. Days like Monday help too :-)

Glad you'll get to some premier league games in August.

I believe there was an issue with power usage for the camera footage, as we were told there was only enough power for their filming and that the rebels radio power came from a portable unit. I would guess as a cameraman you would need a lot more power than that

I would think a portable battery fitted to the camera would suffice. Certainly when I did it properly back at Windsor, we didn't need separate power feed and I don't believe Laurence does at Beaconsfield.

That's correct Gary. I use batteries for the camera and they easily last a full 90 minutes and more.

My view is The game was a play-off final, so it should of been a southern league thing rather than a Kettering thing, as it wasn't a normal home league game. They all ready made from bar, food and programme ect.

But saying that it's been done now so we'll have to see how sporting they are with the recording.

Disagree with that bit Mark, Kettering by right finished above us in the league, and for that reason they deserve home advantage and everything that goes along with it:

They are the rules...

I have no doubt that we will get a recording of the game etc, as they are a good club, and hopefully that will be soon, and we will all have a great memory of the day.

According to two Kettering supporters that stood next to me at the game, the bar takings go to Burton Latimer FC not Kettering.

I suppose Kettering have a similar arrangement as Slough have with Beaconsfield,so that may even include the food takings, too.

Well if I was running Kettering and brining in 700ish support I would be looking at a % cut in the takings.

Neil agree on the most of what you say but as in say The FA Cup all of a sudden in later round how out side forces take over. That the way I think the play-offs should be as a Cup match.  radio and filming ( even things like t-shirts ect ) are extra's

Where's older ram and hotspur! I was sure they would be 1st on to congratulate us! Oh wait hotspur is banned...... Managers proved them wrong!

Someone suggested that Older Ram was at the SYCOB end of season party but I think that was in February :-)

Probably been mentioned before, but where did the Stanley come from? Secret Acrrington fan ;)

Haha, nothing to do with Accrington Stanley.  I signed up on here and on the the Hearts forum a few years ago with Stanley as the username.  It came from one guy I knew back then calling me Stanley after a character called 'Flat Stanley' because I'm pretty slim.
