PROMOTION

There are some video clips of the goals doing the rounds on Twitter.

Hopefully Kettering will release the footage from their professional cameraman to the club so we can sell dvds - although maybe we should only pay for the second half!

What a day - Still buzzing now - what a comeback!

Must admit that i'd been confident that we'd do it this season in the play-off's as I felt it was our time, but at 2-0 down at half-time, without our top scorer and them looking inspired at the back I did not see that coming one bit at the break, but what character we had. We got the ball on the floor and showed what we can do.

Everyone was brilliant when we needed to step-it-up. Step 3 football for the first time in seven-years.

After all the trips to some grounds in this league on a dark, cold, wet Tuesday night miles away where i've sometimes felt like I don't need directions to get there over these years it all seems worth it now!

Congrats to Bakes & Unders. They are doing a fantastic job at this club. I remember when we had the meet the managers evening at the start of the season they said they had full confidence in this group of players - and barring a few changes and additions they were SO right! Delighted for Super Kev as well.

Special mention for George Short who could have hidden after the own-goal, but did not and he came out fighting and also the boys who stayed on from last season (Sean, Wooz, Eddie) as it would have been so easy for them to walk away this season with the changes at the start of the year and go somewhere else, but they stayed loyal with us. That said though all the players that have come in this year have shown superb attitudes and have been great to watch and have really brought into what this club is about.

...and the key to promotion? Lose your first game of the season! We did this year, Burnham did the season before! ;-)

REBELS!

Just about getting my head around yesterday! I said to Unders last night that at half-time I was resigned to defeat, not because of the score alone but because we'd been entirely outplayed for 45 minutes. I couldn't see any way back for us. The second half was crazy however in terms of the turnaround. Don't know whether they got complacent but once we got the ball down and attacked them they looked very fragile. What an amazing spirit within the camp to have totally turned the game on its head.

Then the celebrations last night were just fantastic. The players coach turning up and being greeted by the supporters, the singing and togetherness in the Herschel, the interaction between players and supporters were all great memories. Anyone who has any lingering doubts about this group of players should have seen them last night. It was brilliant.

Now we have a presentation night to really look forward to, rather than previous years where we've tried to drum up some interest and come up with some positives! Can't wait :-)

Hi guys and girls

Only my second post here in three years or more. I live in deepest Surrey and have only been to one game at Beaconsfield so not your average supporter and am a season ticket holder at Woking. My ex father in law introduced me to STFC and non league football 40 yrs back when I lived in Slough so have a soft spot and a few old programmes to boot.

So I follow the trials and tribulations and ground nonsense from afar. In fact I did once chat to the guy who recently passed about nobbling local politicos about a new ground and have done that myself recently.

I could blather on but I went to the match yesterday and took her indoors and son. This was proper football. As a lapsed Rebel I felt at home instantly behind the goal at the far end and feel the reflected well earned glory of the team and the performance. Second half we were up

for it and were just fantastic. Fabulous effort all round and the pride of Rebels fans is fully justified.

See you at Holloways Park next season then, Ian, for some Southern Prem footie!

There is something I'm going to miss about not being in the Central division next season, and that is all the local games most of us fans were fortunate to have on the doorstep. However I don't suppose I'm too bothered about missing AFC Hayes or North Greenford's grounds among a few others.

Looks like Oxford City and Dorchester are likely to be in the Southern Prem next season but wouldn't it be ironic if we swap one Hayes team for another in Hayes and Yeading especially as they are due to be sharing with Maidenhead.

That would be good to have Burnham and H+Y on our doorstep!

I expect Hayes and Yeading will drop into the Ryman Premier, though.

I don't know about World Cup fever, I've got the hots for trips for to Weymouth,Corby,Poole Town,Banbury,Cambridge City and such like !

Not looking to wish my life away but can't wait for the new season to get under way!

Just like to thank everyone for their support on Monday, it was fantastic to see so many of our fans celebrating!!! And even better in the Hershel Arms with a few beers (and shots).

It has been an interesting season, which has been really up and down, and it took us a while to bed in as a management team, but also as a squad of players, but hopefully you will agree with a few minor changes Slough now have a team to be proud of.

I think someone mentioned earlier that we believed in the players at the start of the year, and that is something we do, which also gives them belief:

Yes we lost some very silly games early on, and it took us a while to get going etc, and we had to contend with a December where we had so many senior players missing, that any side would have been hurt by, and we were.

However the run the lads have had since the Start of January is nothing sort of fantastic, they have been running through brick walls for each other, and playing some fantastic stuff all the way, and the changing room and club has been a fantastic place to be, and makes Jon and I so proud to manage a team like that.

Bringing in the likes of Jake Parsons Ryan Parsons, Adam Cornell and Rummy in particular around January had a huge impact on the squad, and helped us really push on:

To finish any season with 16 wins 1 draw and 3 defeats scoring 55 goals and conceding 20 from the last 20 games is sensational, our bank holiday weekend dip probably came at a great time, as if I am honest I think with our away record this year we wanted to play away in the play off games, but it also put us in check a little, as going into the play offs on the back of 9 wins may have led us to be over confident.

However the lads put in some giant performances against Rugby and Kettering and we have achieved what Jon and I set out to do at the start of this season!! PROMOTION.

Plenty of people to thank, and I am sure we will do so at the awards night (which are going to be great)

However one man Jon and I would like to thank is Steve Easterbrook!

Not only did he give us the chance to manage a top club, by seeing the potential in us and how much we both want to be succesful, but he has also stuck by us all season, and given us help whenever we needed.

We both remember after the Cirencester defeat in the FA Cup, as we entered the bar the first person we saw was Steve, who wanted to console us and make sure WE were OK.... having just gone out of a cup like that in the first round some Chairman would not have been so thoughtful (That really made an impact on both of us, and made us even more determined)

Also the statement he put out before the Kettering game at Christmas explaining that we were struggling with injuries and asking fans to get behind us, and basically taking the heat of us was unreal!

He is top drawer, not only do we have a great working relationship with him, but he is a top person to boot, and we look forward to many years working together.

The players think the world of him, and are trying desperately trying to get him to Portugal with us ;-) was great that he was there celebrating with us at the end!!

Well anyway end of chapter one, onto next season and the Southern Premier, see you Friday!! COYR

How I wished we had our Camerman doing the video....

Those video clips of the goals are from a supporter/blogger in the crowd, not from Kettering's official cameraman. He was up on a portakabin roof here (in the white shirt): https://www.flickr.com/photos/horshamrebel/14124761595/in/set-72157644136474958

I don't know him, so I have no idea whether he intends letting Slough supporters see his footage anywhere, either on DVD's (for sale) or on You Tube. It looks like the other one up on that roof is also filming the match (using a DSLR with a mini-steadicam).

I suspect they both stopped filming as soon as the final whistle went though.  Most club cameramen do if their team has lost.

I was told there wouldn't be room for me, which was why I was not given permission to film. Clearly I could have got up on that portakabin as well, but in reality it's the problem with the Play-Offs at this level when it is not at a neutral venue. Rows between club cameramen/hired professionals like myself regarding rights issues are often a problem for big matches like this when one of the competing sides is officially the Home team.

If the game had been at Holloways Park, I would have wanted exclusive use of the gantry and it's possible that MyFC (who are paying me to film the matches professionally) might have wanted me to have exclusive rights with a view to making money for the club from DVD sales whichever team won.

If it was at a neutral venue, then both cameramen and both clubs have rights to film the match.

I'm gutted that I missed the match, but at the same time, I have no complaints with Kettering or their cameraman. That's just the way it is.

Thanks for the explanation.

Just hope, that they dont out of spite or sour grapes, scrap the video of the whole game without sharing or offering to us at first.

I am sure we would share with them if roles were reversed.

Absolutely.

Ever since I started filming Non-League football back in the early-90's, I have always given the opponents the chance to buy DVDs if they have not had anybody filming for them.

I know that sometimes at this level there are issues with Managers not wanting opposing Managers to see the footage for tactical reasons, but that only applies during the season when their teams have still got to play each other again. That won't apply for a Play-Off Final.
