Levy in action this afternoon against our friends from Oxhey Jets. What a turn around for Levy bottom of League in November and ended up with 34 points and a cup final. Well done Dene and his management team and of course the players.

You could try asking them

That's a strange reply, who submits all the SSML fixtures to the Non League paper each week out of interest

DIVISION TWO

2-3 Willen v Brimsdown

A report from Osborne posted in another Forum and lifted by Mr Rhodes

Willen 2 Brimsdown 3 South Midlands League Division 2. Noon Kick off.

Admission/ programme- none

Tea 50p

h/c 28 ( At least 14 of those were groundhoppers.)

This bottom of the table clash certainly entertained. The ground is in what looks like a posh part of Milton Keynes and is surrounded by parkland and woods. There is a pavilion where refreshments were available and the football ground is opposite the cricket pitch. There is a post and rope around the pitch and moveable dug-outs on the near side of the pitch. The game saw the home team play the best football and they took the lead from a lob over the Brimsdown keeper. This spurred the visitors on and they scored twice before half time. The home side twice hit the woodwork and then the Birmsdown keeper was lucky to be shown just a yellow card when he fouled a Willen player just outside the box. With time running out Willen equalised only for the home defence to make a major mistake and let Brimsdown in once again. There was more drama in the last few minutes when the home number 4 was sent off. He'd clearly said something but after the constant dissent from the Brimsdown back 4 he was very unlucky. Then the ref showed a second yellow to the home number 9 for something he said and Willen were down to 9 men. I'd like to see the ref's report. Brimsdown held on for a vital win but their 2 remaining games are against sides in the top 3 so Willen will have to hope Brimsdown don't pick up any more points.

Crawley Green res 2-2 Stoney res.

From what I hear 9 1st teamers out for Stoney today

That's hardly saying much though to be fair.

BUCKINGHAM SENIOR CHARITY CUP FINAL

To be played @ Buckingham Athletic FC

5-3* Banbury United v Buckingham Athletic

A report from another Forum:

Banbury United 5-3 Buckingham Athletic

Buckingham Senior Charity Cup Final

A large crowd for this one in pleasant sunshine. The park through the ground was used for parking, so no need to use the surrounding streets. Plenty of people watched from outside the fence too, whilst several were the sort that only stopped for a few minutes, there did seem to be a lot who stayed for the whole game.

The clubhouse and its outside drinking area was very busy, and a bit far from the action, but several did watch the game from here. Hard standing doesn't quite stretch round the ground, which has a single stand opposite the dugouts with three rows of bench seating and a back room to stand. Behind this are new changing rooms (they don't appear on Google Earth).

The game picked up as it went on. Banbury lead 1-0 then, but chances on both sides were spurned. An equaliser was quickly followed by Banbury restoring their lead. A late second for Buckingham when an attempted clearance found a lucky strikers head - it went in and I'm not sure he intended anything. Buckingham came close to winning it in the 90th minute, but a one-on-one was directed just past the post.

They did lead in extra time, but were pegged back. The 5th arriving from a penalty three minutes into time added on (scuffles following the award of said penalty).

A good day out.
