A report from 'hemelite' from another forum.

Had intended to watch SSML Div 1 match between Kings Langley v Bedford. But the Arriva bus company decided not to run a bus between Hemel and Watford for the afternoon (without telling anyone of course) and by the time we found alternate transport there was only time to reach:

SSML Premier Division
London Lions 0 London Colney 2
Played @ Hemel FC

And by god i wish i hadnt bothered. Absolute dross. mad.gif
They play each other again on Tuesday at Colney's ground, Manic depressives should be warned to stay away.

New ground for me so looking forward to this one.

Saturday 3rd May

PREMIER DIVISION

1-3 Stotfold v Hanwell Town

Our first win at Stotfold FC for a few years. Our goals were scored by Ca.Duffy 2 and I.Bywater.

It was a real shame that Bill Healey could not add to his 42 league goals today but to score 54 goals in all competitions this season is fantastic. Bill Healey played really well today but he could not put the ball in the back of the net but Bill did set up two of our three goals today he is a class player who has had great season for the club.

I really liked Stotfold FC its a lovely little ground and a friendly club.

Im going to miss the SSML :(

DIVISION ONE

1-1 Kings Langley v Bedford     (Kings Langley runners-up)

A report from Cherryhopper in another Forum: Lifted by me

Spartan South Midlands Division One

KINGS LANGLEY 1-1 BEDFORD FC

Attendance peaked at around 180

Admission £5 including programme

After years of near misses Kings Langley finally clinch promotion to Step 5 on goal difference in this winner takes all decider. The visitors needing to win started like a train and laid siege to the home goal in the first 15 minutes hitting the bar twice. After weathering the early storm the home side began to get a foothold but it wasn't until the 65th minute when they broke the deadlock, an excellent far post header by Jonathan Munday from a left wing cross. The visitors now needed to score twice and pulled one goal back with 10 minutes remaining when a corner to the near post was sidefooted home but Kings Langley held on until the end.

Gaywood Park is only 20 years old but has an older looking stand painted green with 2 rows of pink (probably red when first installed) seats behind a wooden barrier. Behind is a big mound of earth plateaued at the top suggesting the club may be building something up here in the near future. There is a pavillion overlooking a second pitch.

DIVISION ONE

1-1 Langford v Wodson Park

A report from Red Robbo in another Forum: Lifted by me

Langford (0) 1, Wodson Park (0) 1

SSML 1

Admission £5/£2.50 including programme

Attendance 39

The last game of a Annus horribilis season for the Reds, four managers, last place in the League, plenty of thrashings home and away. This game could have gone either way with Wodson looking the more likely to win and even more likely when they took lead. However Langford hit back within three minutes to level and both teams had further chances to take all three points on offer but it end 1-1.

A footnote to this is that Langford could escape the "wooden spoon" if they are awarded the points from the Kentish Town game that was postponed last week with Kentish unable to field a side. That would see Arlesey Town reserves finish in last place.
