Been thinking long and hard about the pre-match entertainment, and here is what I've come up with so far. Good suggestions are more than welcome, please...

 

 

2.30pm - Birthday and Anniversary Requests

 

Email me at zealster@hotmail.com or PM me if you want your birthday or anniversary mentioned before the game along with a song of your choice. (Please note GHA, I draw the line at some of the crap you listen to!!)

 

 

2.35pm - Message Board Poll Winner

 

On the Monday before a Saturday home game, I'll do a poll of about five songs on the message board, and play the one with the most votes. Please suggest songs to be in each weekly poll. The winner of the current poll, featuring The Jam, will be played at the Tilbury Reserves match on 22nd November.

 

 

2.40pm - The Memory Jerker

 

In a slot, not at all ripped off from Willie Morgan at Spurs, we'll go back into the midsts of time and pick out a St Albans match that was played on that day in a previous year (hence me asking Rob for a site with lists St Albans City results!!) This will be followed up by the number one record on that day

 

 

2.45pm - The Teams

 

Read out the team line-ups, followed by one last record before handing over to Fred at 2.50pm.

 

 

 

Like I said, if you have any suggestions for other pre-match features, please list them on this thread. I'll probably start each Saturday at around 2pm, so there's still half an hour's worth of time to fill!!

How about 'Songs from the dressing room' between 2.20 and 2.30? You could ask a random player in the bar his favourite track and then play it with a mention of who chose it.

You're probably right, actually. There have been some truly shocking number one records, haven't there!? Perhaps just a song that was in the charts at that time?

 

Brew - speak to the players in the bar? Are there any left that will actually still talk to me!!?

You could interview a player who isn't playing (quite a few to choose from!) along the lines of the 'in conversation with...' bit in the programme.

If they don't speak to you, just make it all up and then when Simon is revealed as having named his favourite record of all time as 'Could it be magic' by 'Take That' they might sit up and notice!!!

Or say that Simon recommended this song (Love is all around me - By WET WET WET) then yes I should think that they would sit up and think "My God we had better put in a song recommendation as Simon's taste in music is awful!!!!"

I'll do Killing In The Name when I'm feeling particularly brave. That wouldn't be a bad choice for them to come out to, all in all.
