[A Rebel and a Saint]

The noise behind the goal last night was brilliant, we need to recreate that on Monday regardless of the score, covering and number of Kettering fans.

 

Still buzzing from that this morning, it was an unbelievable performance against a very good Rugby side. We contained them at the back and played the game we wanted to play. Seeing all the messages of support on twitter, along with the comments from the players and managers, we certainly have a great following.

You know what, there's certain things in football, and indeed life, which make you smile with pride. Last night was one of them. Not because of the team performance. Not because of the result. Not because of the support. Because of the class gesture from the players to all go over and just have a little celebration with Dave after the final whistle. That was a real class touch and further increased my respect for everything this club stands for and does. 

 

Well done lads from this very proud Rebel.

Wow. What a performance.

 

First five minutes they had a flurry or corners and we soaked it up and then grew into the game. Thought we then were the better side for most of the half but our shots were either lacking a bit of power or direction and we just couldn't break through.

 

It was inevitable that Rugby would have a spell on top and that came in the second half. We showed great energy, pressing them all over the pitch it was a joy to behold. And then the goals started coming! Awesome.

 

1-11 were superb, I just started to write and special mentions to....but I was going to name all eleven players and the subs and Foulser and Matty bonnet! Great celebrations at the end.

 

Got home and then couldn't sleep as I was buzzing so much.

What a night and what a performance!

 

All the players played their part in what was a quite superb all round team performance.

 

Special mention to George Short who I thought really showed us what he was made of last night with a terrific mid-field performance.

 

Also, is Warren Harris still running round that pitch? covered every blade of grass in a great all round performance.

 

Should be quite a game on Monday!

We are going to need as many Rebels turning up on Monday as possible. For once, we will be playing a team with a good number of support, so we need to be as loud (and proud) as possible.

 

Do need to know ASAP whether the game is going to be all ticket (although we dont have much time) as I could see another Wycombe away where many fans were locked out...

Not a game to pick man of the match but George Short and James Dobson had their best games in a Slough shirt last night. Everyone was superb though.

 

First class of the players to celebrate with Dave at the end, he was well chuffed.

Terrific team performance........hard to choose just one but Wooz was fantastic.

 

Overall best 90 minutes of the season..........no one gave less than 100%

Every player had a great game! The team was a totally diff team from the last 2.... George great game and nice push at the end! Dobbos free kicks and corners were brilliant! Defence held up and kept them out and the keeper trying to mess with the wooz.... No chance! Great game of football and well done to the managers!

 

Also a well done to Sean for spotting Dave and calling the players over was a very nice touch and shows our players true colours! Great bunch of lads ...... Now to Kettering!!!! COYR

Thanks to Neil, Jon and the lads for such an amazing night, everyone gave 100% and every single player was MOM.

 

Well done to the loud mouths behind the goal who kept the noise going, absolutely brilliant, make sure you all take honey and lemon from now til Monday as the same will be required at Kettering. I will of course provide party popper's etc as usual.

 

Can I just say thank you so much to the team for going over to David at the end fo the game,  that gesture made me realise what a lovely caring bunch of lads we have and I am so proud of all of you. xxx

But God dont Sue half moan when we stopped singing for the odd second. It's hard to sing when you feel sick with nerves!

The only down side is Rugby are probably my favourite opposition team in our league. Proper ground, actual fans rather than a chairman splashing the cash until he gets bored. They should have gone on and won the league.

Think there were only two new songs last night. One for somers and the one for bakes and Unders. There were revisits of previously unheard Fraser and smith songs, but we will keep working on it for the next game.

I have just uploaded the extended highlights to the MyFC Vimeo channel and the five-minute version (well, it's seven for this game actually  ) to the STFC You Tube channel. I think you have to wait for Tom to e-mail you the link on the newsletter ?, but I have included the celebration with Dave at the end on both sets of highlights. It wasn't easy to film that from where I was at the back of the main stand because of Rugby supporters standing up in front of me, so it's a bit out of focus but at least you can see what was happening. I'm sure Horsham Rebel took some good photos of the celebrations though. Can't wait to see them.

 

Ed Smith's challenge on the Rugby keeper early on was interesting. I had a great view of that and he definitely caught him just above the knee, but then the keeper rolled around holding his groin ! I think the Ref did really well not to fall for that and just give Ed a yellow.

 

...and there was definitely more than 522 there from what I could see on video. 

 

Let's just hope the Final is moved to somewhere suitable for me to film the game. I won't be able to put a tripod/scaffolding up at Latimer Park. The only way that game can be filmed is from in amongst the crowd with a hand-held camera...and that's not for me.
