DIVISION ONE

2-1 FC Broxbourne Borough v Southall

A report from another Forum:

FC Broxbourne Borough 2 Southall 1

Spartan South Midlands League Div 1. Att; 14 Admission £5 no programme. Can of coke £1 and Bounty 50p

Two sides in the top half but no chance of promotion went head to head on this one with the home team in the end deservedly winning. Southall took the lead following a free-kick on 28 minutes, but FCBB equalised within 2 minutes when their centre forward beat the offside trap and finished impressively beyond the keeper.

Southall had probably felt hard done by at half time, however the second half was predominantly the home side and after being caught offside numerous times, and missing 2 sitters knicked it 5 minutes from time with a cool lob by one of their subs after being put through.

Nice set up at FCBB - decent sized stand dedicated in someones memory on one side and some further seating which is covered in one corner. The rest of the ground is flat standing.

Have to say major disappointment was the conduct of the home team. Every decision that went against them was questioned in the most aggressive manner and the conduct of their players was a disgrace. A stronger referee would have had the cards out earlier. Perhaps their conduct explains the paltry turn out - maybe the locals are just put off.

DIVISION ONE

1-4 Sun Postal Sports v Bedford

A brief report from another Forum:

SSMFL Div 1

Sun Postal Sports 1-4 Bedford

Admission and Programme £4

Head Count 46

Nothing purchased but a decent barmaid 8/10

1st v 2nd, one unbeaten in 25 the other in 19 so I was expecting a draw but it was the complete opposite with SPS taking the lead and then a red card reducing them to 10 men completely changed the game on its head and 3 quick goals put Bedford 3-1 up at break. Game faded out in the second half and on 90 Bedford scored a 4th from a corner. Neat little ground and good to see the top 2 sides in action even if SPS played a few reserve players.

If Bedford win on Saturday they are promoted along with SPS.

three of London Tiger's goals and an 'if you were the ref?' question v Stotfold from 1m 37secs was it Unsporting Behaviour?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEFAE6dtnpg&feature=youtu.be

when Stotfold player is through on goal you can hear what i think was a Tiger's player shouting (from Stotfold player's reaction)... was he trying to put them off in an unsporting manner?

I now understand, although the 'monkey noises' did not start in my viewing of the video until 1:43. In addition, it is not obvious from the highlights that it is a Tigers player - it could just as easily have been a spectator.

However, if it was an opponent - the simple answer is 'yes'........

Interesting as I remember at our recent game against the London Tigers one of our supporters having a moan that one of the London Tigers players was shouting something when one of our players was through on goal to try and put our player off.

If he did put him off, would that be deemed as denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity and thus a red card?   :D

No. As you are well aware, this form of USB is not a penal offence. Therefore it would be a Yellow and an indirect free-kick. However most referees would play an advantage and caution at the next stoppage.
