Lino how about John Richie and Peter Cruise who both left Slough after Berks and Bucks final to sign for Arsenal as did Brian McDermott a few years later.

Kenny Gaine,Kieron Summers,Geoff Antony, Jimmy Brown, and Terry Brown all top class players just to name a few.

Last from me Chris Mullians,Peter Lavers and Dave Yerby.

Always wished Slough had done more to try and sign Keith Searle from Wycombe a real quality Striker.

Gosh you named enough players to fill many sides, said in the begining of this thread all most impossible to pick eleven out.Have to agree with you on John Richie we never had him for long but anyone could see why Arsenal came calling, don't really know why he never quite made it long term there.

Agree with you on Keith Searle should have snapped him up when he was at Weadlstone, before Wycombe offered more dollars ( I remember at the time they said they were strictly amateur --- yes and pigs fly as well )

Nobody's mentioned Michael Gilkes, who I thought was top class, although maybe on his way down the tree when he was with us.  And Sammy Winston, who scored lots of goals for us and excited the crowd at WP with his speed going forward.   And Nick (?) Goury, a good defender.

Gilkes was a class act and definitely one of the better performers from the form reading lot, we had Dylan Kerr, James lambert and Keith McPherson all at a similar time. Nick

What about Dave Kemp, played for Crystal Palace, Plymouth , in fact they still sing about him at Plymouth, great striker and manager for Slough, my Slough Town team would be (based on my age)

Paul Baron

Dave Yerby

Eric Young

Mark Foran

Timmy Turl

Mickey O'Sullivan

Alan Paris

Pat Morrissey

Steve Thompson

Rohan Dodds

David Kemp

Slightly too young to remember all the early 70's but I do slightly remember Roger Day, Alf D'Arcy, I also remember the day John Ritchie and Peter Cruise signed for Arsenal , I think it was after the B&B final at Maidenhead but I might be wrong

We have had some fantastic ex players when we were really one of the premier non-league teams.

Michael Gilkes was extraordinary for Reading, by the time he got to Slough he was nearing the end of his playing career. He still did a reasonable job for Slough and the players benefitted from his coaching skills, too but I don't see how he could be included in a Slough best 11,given his Slough performances.

I thought Nick Gyoury was distinctly average at best and we had quite a few poor results when he was included in the team but being fair to Nick,at the time,we had a lot of personnel changes to the team/squad and the manager was undecided what his best team was. Also Steve Daly was very similar in style to Nick Gyoury and was the favoured choice.

Think most Slough fans liked Sammy Winston, myself included. He was very robust, could beat a player and knew how to score goals.

It's a pity we couldn't have got his services about 4 or 5 seasons previous to when we did get him,as in his prime he   was vastly better, to the player that eventually arrived at Wexham Park.

Another player that fits into the same box as Sammy Winston was Corey Browne.Who remembers him?
