Wayne Bridge !!!

Who did Scott Bevan and Dennis Bailey play for? Remember the rest. Wasn't Dean Coney a striker foremost?

Gary Abbot a class act. I liked Terry Robins his partner in crime at Welling. They were a win double.

Dean Coney was a centre forward by trade at Norwich and QPR I think, however a knee injury forced him into part time football, and ended up centre half, him and Keith Day were class acts, and pretty sure those two might be in Jon's team also!!

Dennis Bailey started his career at Farnborough and went to Palace and QPR, scored a hat trick against Man Utd for QPR in the league, and up until recently was the last person to do that, played with him towards the end of his career (when him and Mark West were up front together).

I played with Scott Bevan and Wayne at Southampton from the age of about 13-16, Scott has had a good career in lower league football for teams like Torquay and Bristol Rovers, and is currently at Havant and Waterlooville, a giant at 6 foot 7, but was always class, and obviously Wayne Bridge speaks for himself, however he was predominately a left winger in his early days.

Sort of remember Dennis Bailey in a vague way.Brain cells aren't what they were!

Cheers for the team.Makes interesting reading. Mark West in his peak at Wycombe certainly knew where the net was.Would probably be in my dream team.

What about Phil Wingfield? He was mate's with a mate of mine,so used to look out for him a bit.See he played with you at Farnborough.Didn't see enough of him to know if he was any good.Think he went to Kingstonian after Farnborough.

I'm sorry to offend anyone. My list was't supposed to start World War 3 !

I was trying to establish, that just because the majority favour one player, not everyone see's why they are indispensable and so great to the team..

Then why word it in a way, and give it a title, you would know would start up a big backlash.

If you were asking for a positive thing, why give it a negative slant ?

I see Bakes obviously went with the rule that we weren't allowed to pick each other so I will do the same! ;)

Played with majority at Farnborough apart from a few exceptions...

GK - Maik Taylor

RB - Wayne Stemp

LB - Darren Barnard (Wokingham)

CB - Dean Coney

CB - Keith Day

CM - Dave Harlow

CM - Darron Wilkinson (Wokingham)

RM - Martin Rowlands

LM - Lee Cook (Aylesbury)

CF - Dennis Bailey

CF - Simon Read

Loving the choice of Wilko! Another club legend and the scorer of one of my all time favourite goals

Gary,gary,gary.....sigh. In hindsight I wish I had worded the title differently but I would have still got the same reaction, with my choosing of Steve Daly!

Being that I thought we were all adults,I thought we could have a rational discussion on past players who [the average fan] thought was over rated by the majority.

It was supposed to be purely from a football skills perspective, not about anyone's character off the field of play.

I think this forum suffers from those closest to the club ie Horsham Rebel [Gary],Rebel Sue etc because they think, quite wrongly I might add, that anyone who says anything just a tiny bit controversial of the club or it's former players[who have obviously become friends to them] has some personal vendetta against them or the club, which is frankly ridiculous.

Come on people !

A forum is supposed to be about debate and discussion. You cannot function as a forum if everybody agrees with each other 100% of the time.It would be pointless and futile,if that were the case.

I rated Dave Harlow big time.He looked effortless on the ball.Slough fans all know the assets of Darron Wilkinson and he would be in my fantasy non-league dream squad of 22 ! Think Hayes saw the peak of him, though.

Simon Read was a profilic goalscorer and was highly rated.I do remember him well.

Maik Taylor who went on to play professionally for Leicester and many others?

I had always admired Stuart McKenzie of ex Yeading and Farnborough as a solid, dependable goalkeeper .Didn't you play alongside him as well,Jon? Surprised David Leaworthy never made your team or was it that he wasn't around in your time.Hard to remember who played with whom.

You have just contradicted yourself..... They are entitled to their opinion just like you are, if they don't agree with it then they can say so...... I do not mind a discussion or debate but if I see it effects a player personally then I'll pull it up u can't blame Gary or sue cause they work hard for the club and do get defensive rightly so when there's convos that are pointless

Hammer Rebel,we all know how hard Gary[Horsham Rebel] and Sue[Rebel Sue] work for the club. They are stalwarts of our beloved club and rightly deserve the plaudits they get, and I,for one, applaud their noteworthy contribution they do for Slough.

That is not in question.

My point in answer to Gary's[Horsham Rebel] post, was that I mean't no harm or wanted to be controversial in putting up the subject I did.

I did it because I thought it could lead to an interesting discussion.Nothing more.

I also felt that we had an opportunity to chat about something else, other than the current team.

I can't help it, if fans are thin-skinned about the thread I chose to put up.Honestly it wasn't my intention to get everyone riled up.

However, you can't please everyone all the time and this bloke's given up trying ! ! !

Was a close choice for me on keeper as Stuart Mackenzie was brilliant, also has the hardest hand shake I have ever encountered....

I never played with Dave Leworthy (i doubt Unders did either), but watched him plenty of times for Farnborough, and he was different gear, him and Simon Read, now that was a prolific partnership....

Dean Coney never really did it at QPR FC he was never a out and out goal scorer was he.

Dennis Bailey Went to Gillingham FC after he left QPR and banged in the goals for them in the first half of the season but faded out in the the second half of the season but Gillingham did get promoted at the end of the season he also had a loan spell at Brentford FC while at QPR.

Dean Coney, when I saw his name, I thought immediately of QPR. I recollect having him on one of of pannini stickers, he played for QPR when they had the plastic pitch if memory serves me right.

Neil, who's boots did you clean at Southampton?

Yep on the old drastic plastic pitch he was no Gary Bannister or John Byrne for QPR FC that's for sure but Coney did ok at Fulham FC before his move to QPR.

Yep he was class for Yeading FC saw him play many times for them.

I watched quite a few of Yeading's games when he was there, too,as my nephew played for Yeading youth side.

Johnson Hippolyte,Steve Cordery,Hector Walsh,Steve Croad, Lee Charles and Charlie Oatway were there too.Even ex-Slough Town player Robbie Johnson turned out for them that year.I think?
