3.Colin Fielder

4.Steve Daly

5.Stuart Hemsley

Anyone else care for a go?

Wow, really surprised you have Colin in that category... excellent player, real leader, and hard as nails!!! (obviously everyone has opinions ha ha)

I had the pleasure of playing with him at Aldershot, and also watching him play for years in the same side as my Dad... also had a monster strike on him!!

Currently managing for Alton Town in the Combined Counties!!!

Think Colin is damned by circumstances, signed from then rivals for club record fee and expectations were ludicrously high.

To put Steve Daly in that list is also shocking.

Don't like posts like this at all

I'm sorry to offend anyone. My list was't supposed to start World War 3 !

I was trying to establish, that just because the majority favour one player, not everyone see's why they are indispensable and so great to the team..

I do think people overeact on here at times. It makes you wonder if it is even worth talking about Slough Town past and present,as whatever get's said, which is the least bit edgy, you get shot down in flames, before anyone can debate anything.

I'm quite aware that Steve Daly is a fans favourite and some people consider him a club legend, that's why I

included him !

I have nothing against Steve Daly as a club man or the good servant he was.My only observation was that I thought he was fortunate to play as many games as he did considering that most of his game revolved around headed tennis and that he wasn't the best footballing centre half available at the time.

I realise that he put in some sterling games for us and I wasn't  faltering his loyalty to the club at all, or that he had the ability on occasion to raise his game against higher, better opposition.

I just happen to favour a defender who can control the ball and is an all rounder and doen't have to be the archtypal 6ft 5' centre half ie Gary McGinnis,Leon Townley.Jeff Bateman even Steve Bateman. That's all.

Onto Colin Fielder,I know he has an excellent record of playing for top Conference South East sides,Neil, but at Slough he never lived up to his billing after the club paid a record £18,000 for him.To me he seemed vastly over-rated,given we let Steve Thompson go to Wycombe so cheaply.

Sadly it never happened for Colin at Slough and he was no David Harlow,Neil !

David Harlow another top player I managed to watch as a kid and play with, and finally play for at Leatherhead... classy player... the two of them would have been a combination, but not sure they ever played together.

I do remember when Slough paid that money for him, which at the time was a lot of money for a non league player, but obviously would not have seen him play for Slough, as I was following my Dad up the length and breadth of the country with Farnborough.

I also liked Christian mets a lot trained with him for ages and played alongside him. Always have 100% and in my opinion never got the credit he deserved from us.

I'm not saying anything about their personality off the field but on it I thought Christian Metcalfe was a dirty player and would be malicious and often do nasty fouls from behind and such like,

It was a shame that he did those things as he wasn't a bad player but to me that let him down badly.

Neil or Jon come to that, I would like to see you both do your fantasy non league dream team of players you've watched, played with or against over the years.

Perhaps you can get your mate Stu Hammonds to get it in the Non-League Paper for me or perhaps it would make a good article for next season's programme or even for this forum! Any chance?

I think mine would be as follows for players played with:

GK - Scott Bevan

Right Back - Steve Baker

Left Back - Wayne Bridge

Centre Half - Dean Coney

Centre Half - Keith Day

Right Midfield - Martin Rowlands

Left Midfield - Mark Robson

Central Midfield - Dave Harlow

Central Midfield - Paul Harford

Centre Forward - Gary Abbott

Centre Forward - Dennis Bailey

But late but daly!!!!!!!

Gobsmacked

For me it's like comparing Bobby Moore to Tony Adams. As good as Tony Adams was for Arsenal,Bobby Moore would run rings around him as a ball playing centre half.
