What the hell is this player up to

Recommended Posts

I think we need to realise footballs changed,as has life.

Many of us are used to interacting with the players in the bar after, something which goes back to the days of the original conference South days and beyond.I know I hardly talk to this current batch of players, there's some I do but usually they are the ones who have been here a while.I think many fans struggle with this, especially the older fans,I know when I read players tweets etc about "the banter" it's completely different from what we was used to even 5 years ago and players from all clubs seem to spend all their time on their mobiles after games etc.

It could just be that the modern fan is so far detached from the modern player especially the younger ones that it alienates some and players nowadays do seem to be in a different world to some of us oldies!!!

It's not neccesarily a bad thing and not something that's just at hornchurch but at most non league clubs nowadays.

Many fans of hornchurch are fans that turned their back on premier league football as it became so far removed from them and non league was more personal, you could mingle with the players, talk about the game etc, when that's taken away i suppose to some it may feel like the same happening again with the non league game.It definately doesn't feel the same as it did 5 years ago.Not excusing any of the behaviour that's gone on but maybe all parties could realise that things are changing and it's hard for one side to see the others point of view

We all make mistakes. Those involved should be big enough to apologise and move on.  We've all said things we haven't meant in the heat of the moment, so i think we should forgive and forget and get behind the team.

EUs last post kind of sums up the sadness in this sorry tale.

The world has surely changed and Twitter is only part of it.

Back in the day Mr Paynes comments would have been confined

within his close personal circle of friends.

Choose to go public and a line is crossed. Unprofessional conduct at best.

The young man in question, however, is by no means unique within football

in voicing an unprofessional comment.

As a Lowestoft fan I didnt see the lad in either the monsoon game at your place

or the return at the Meadow. By all accounts he is a matchwinner though.

If all goes well for you against The Plod and Kings turn over Dulwich we.

could yet find ourselves contesting a return match up in the Play Offs.

Cant see us slipping up against The Hairdressers.

Anyway good luck on Sat.

I do think that players have a responsibility to their employers and the fans to not write stuff that wrongly or rightly can be misconstrued.Once a player is getting paid for turning out for the club (not sure if Stefan is,but great business if he isn't),surely they have a responsibility to ensure that they behave in a manner which is in line with a clubs standards, the same goes for fans,we have a responsibility to respect those who put on the shirt and they do not deserve abuse of any sort,of course fans will moan and from time to time take their frustrations out on the players and management but if a problem arises from it,it should be sorted out between those parties, not on twitter etc.

I know its slightly different and football seems to work in different ways from modern life but if I tweeted that I was going to go into work, bunking off after hitting a colleague etc then I would be fired if I did something similar.

With twitter and other social media platforms, things can be taken out of context so its in everyone's interests to be careful what you say.

The club is quiet in the matter, the abusing fan has gone into hiding and it appears that the player has simmered down. We can chose to continue to highlight this which will almost certainly mean that Stefan had played his last game, Eastside Urchin has said he is considering stepping down and who knows what harm prolonging this matter does to the club and it's supporters. I sure far worse happens and goes unmentioned in the media. Are we looking to for trouble here? Give it a rest chaps.

Sorry,I wasn't looking for trouble.

I was just giving a view into why its essential for players etc to be careful what they say.

I am perfectly happy to believe that the tweet before the Canvey game may of been just a bit of banter which has been taken wrongly by myself and others,I also sympathise with the player somewhat with regards to the other tweet after hearing what others have said about the level of abuse he received.

When I mentioned about resigning, and I have by e mail, although not in person as I have said I would officially,it wasn't just this incident,in fact this was only a small part of it and may of been an over reaction on my behalf to this incident as it appears the tweet has maybe been interpreted wrongly by a few of us.

If someone has had a pop at Stefan from the terraces then I can't blame him for having a dig back ,just feel tweeting the afc hornchurch account wrong though, they should be approached in the bar in my opinion.

The reason I offered my resignation on Tuesday was more for a variety of reasons, this seemed to just tip me over the edge.

I have always prided myself on my appointment as chairman of the supporters association and consider it a great honour but events from last season and the fall out since by ex players really hit me hard in terms of my trust of the game and players, this is probably contributory to what's happening in this latest instance and thinking about it Stefan could actually be the victim of the fans trust in the players because of what happened.

The more I think about it,it must of been a coincidence sending that tweet as Stefan isn't a stupid lad,and you would have to be stupid to put that, get sent off then leave the tweet for everyone to see, maybe the tweets shouldn't of been put on here and instead passed to the club to deal with in house.

You are good lads, the pair of you. I'm sure your offer 'Eastside' of resignation will be refused. Let's lay the matter to rest and use out energies in a positive way. I'm sure we will come out of this stronger.

Good move rob I was just about to lock this topic.

All I now have to say is lets all get behind our team for what could be our last match of the season.

I for one would love to see Stefan playing Saturday ......................
