Thursday 24th April – Kick Off 7.45pm unless stated

RESERVE DIVISION TWO

Crawley Green Reserves v Wodson Park Reserves (Kick Off 6.30pm)

Game postponed, as (apparently) Wodson Park can't get a side to Crawley Green for a 6.30pm kick-off.

If that's the case (and I've no reason to believe it's not), why did they agree - two weeks ago - to switch the game from the Easter Monday afternoon, when few, if any, of their players would be working?

I don't think that is a fair assumption to make though. We had 8 players working on Easter Monday. some of the young lads just cannot turn down triple time on bank holiday and personally I can see understand their reasons.

To ask them to travel that far for a 6:30 KO is a bit much as well.

But this late in the season there aren't many Saturdays left.

The position regarding Easter Monday is understood - and if "...to ask them to travel that far for a 6.30pm kick-off is a bit much...", why agree the switch to Thursday?

As you say there are not many Saturdays left, and all clubs should be doing what they can to play games and not switch and then postpone them.

As far as I'm aware both teams agreed to KO time. I'm assuming early KO is due to no floodlights. However we have a perfectly good enough 3G but no allowed to use.

To be honest they have caused themselves a problem if they agreed the kick off. my main point was bank holidays should not be considered the same as Saturdays as in my experience people are less likely to be available.

Still we all know the main cause of this was the weather which has created problems with fixture backlogs.

Both clubs wanted to play the game and tried very hard to find a suitable alternative date to play the fixture but in the end all possibilities were exhausted.

PREMIER DIVISION

0-0 London Tigers v Colney Heath

A report on this re-played affair from another Forum:

Spartan South Midlands Premier Division

London Tigers 0-0 Colney Heath

Adm: £6.00, Prog: £1.00

Att: No more than 30

My second game this week, and 50/50 as to whether it will be my last. London Tigers used the Avenue on the A41 just outside Greenford and this has to be one of, if not the worst Step 5 grounds around. Basic does not even begin to sum this up. No proper gate, just a fella taking money. 3 sides are railed, all hard standing with no access to the far side which is just trees. About 50 bench seats in a small stand behind the goal and a roofless ramshackle stand at the other end. Surrounds and the sides of the pitch are heavily overgrown, and it feels hemmed in.

The match was not actually that bad, though it get to a point where I was expected a dreaded. Maybe 5 or 6 clear cut chances for both sides, the first half the better with the nearest to a goal a turn and shot by Colney Heath's 9 on 64. Little between the two and we had a Football League referee in charge (according to an SSMFL official who asked me if I was a hopper) as the previous attempt to play this was abandoned due to fighting!

The ground despite its A41 location is just 10 minutes from Greenford station, right out of it then and the bottom go right, ground on the right. I took the District line to Ealing Broadway then FGW to Greenford, after with time to kill and no more trains running, Central Line back to Central London. Nice and easy. Suppose at rush-hour, both options would be busy.

Karen - Why was it re-played is the previous attempt was abandoned due to fighting?

Karen - Why was it re-played is the previous attempt was abandoned due to fighting?

The decision was taken as per rule 8.3.5

In the event of the match being abandoned due to the conduct of both Clubs or their members or supporters no financial penalty can be applied by the Board (SSML Management Committee) to either Club and the Board shall determine whether the original match stands as a completed match or is replayed and, if replayed, the terms upon which the match is to be replayed.
