Slough v Rugby

I would've given a red too, was just a silly thing to do and God knows what he was thinking as he was leaving the pitch, thankfully didn't get any worse.

Onwards and upwards tho, hoping to be able to come Monday (working Saturdays is a killer when you know important matches are on!)

I agree with what I said at the time. Never ever a red. So the keeper would be allowed to just time waste til the final whistle then?? It was a scare/ threat from ed to a keeper who was pissing around. If that's a straight red, then football is not only non contact now a days but no pressure either. If that's a red then the keeper should have already been off for his foul on ed earlier. And the ref should maybe face a warning for "dangerous coin throwing"

I think it's a yellow. At the time I thought it wasn't even a card, however the keeper does appear to have the ball in both hand by the time ed goes back in.

The ref has made the wrong decision in my opinion but ed has allowed the opportunity for that to happen which I get as the keeper was taking the piss but is frustrating none the less

Think it's the angle you first view it from, I was in seated stand and thought Ed caught him with an arm but when watching video the camera angle shows no real contact. The ref, if directly behind the ball, would have just seen a challenge with studs first. Made no difference to result, beaten by the better team.

Onwards and upwards

Marcus, I appreciate it's frustrating but the keeper can't be time wasting if the ball is at his feet as it's in play. He did what 100% of keepers would have done in the situation, 2-1 up away to a promotion rival.

As for the challenge on Ed before there's no justification for it to be red. It wasn't denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity as it was close to the corner and there were two covering defenders on the line. The only other way it could have been red is excessive force and it wasn't.

If the ball is at the keepers feet and in play, then it's available to be challenged for.... it's not a high dangerous challenge, it's not a two footed lunge, and the slow motion seems to show no contact from Ed's foot (apart from maybe stepping on the keepers toe) despite the keeper leaping in the air and throwing himself to the floor.

Anywhere else on the pitch with the ball at a players feet and in play I couldn't see that being more than a yellow as the intent appears to be to nick the ball away from the keeper not to injure him..... personally I would appeal it, but I don't know what the possible downside would be if the appeal failed.

I would assume a bigger ban which would then roll into the start of next season.

A risk worth taking given the game is potentially the playoff final

As far as I know it's just a case of losing the appeal money. Bans only get extended if the FA deem it to be a frivolous appeal.

I don't think they'd deem that to be the case but I'd also be utterly gobsmacked if they overturned it on the basis of that video evidence which has to show that the referee "has made a serious and obvious error." I don't believe he has.

I think the fact that their are differing opinions on if red or not, mean it is unlikely to get overturned, as usually the FA only overturn something so blatantly unjust (like Lakey red card earlier in season).

I must have watched it 20 times with my dad last night, and first assessment was that he did not touch the keeper (which I still believe) however it is the movement he has made and the way he has tackled which is why he has been sent off I think (again not to say I think he deserved to go as I don't really, however can understand why he was).

I spoke to Eddie last night! and we discussed it! but what I said to Eddie was he allowed to let his frustration of us being 2-1 down and not playing well (and being outplayed) get to him, and he made an error of judgement by allowing himself to put himself in that situation.

Clearly if we get to a play off final it will be a huge loss, however we have to now get it out of our system, and I have told him he owes us all over the next 2 hopefully 3 games.

If I am honest we wee not at the races last night, and if anyone has heard Unders interview! I think everything he has said was spot on.

We can be gracious in defeat, and sometimes you just have to hold your hands up, AT&T he end of the day if it had not been for Jake we could have lost by 4/5 and that is the first time anyone has done that to us all season IMO.

Anyway can't say I am too disappointed with an away play off game if we get here, as our home record for me is a bit inconsistent , whereas I think overall we have been better away from home all season.

Be great to see as many of you there tomorrow supporting the lads,an d apologies we did not get it right yesterday.

Like you say Neil, there sufficient doubt for any appeal to be pointless. I was probably closer to the incident than anyone and I still believe there was contact, if not with the feet with the body, albeit nothing that warranted the keeper's reaction. Irrespective of that the aggressive nature of the challenge gives the referee no choice.

When I officiate I say to players all the time, don't put yourself in that position and unfortunately yesterday that's what Ed did.

There's no need to apologise for losing to a better team. We'll all be there Monday and if it does turn out to be away playoff game (hopefully) the numbers we'll take will turn it into a home game anyway!
