Ashford Town (Mx) - Preview, Interview & Discussion

Great fast start flying to the 3-0 lead and from there it was pretty much a training game much like last week but with much more of a cushion on the scoreboard.  Agreed that George had a very good game and it was good to see game time for Cornell, Jake Parsons and Risbridger too.  We repelled everything they tried against us quite easily, the defence had very good games.  It was also good to see Sean Fraser getting forward I thought he also had a very good game, he doesn't usually get the credit for his hard work.  Well done to Dyer on the hat trick too and Smith on his dramatic improvement in discipline to get through so many games while hanging on 9 bookings.

Let's see what happens this week before we start getting too excited and focus on each game as it comes, next weekend will be very tough.

COYR nearly there!

Good summaries so far in all the postings ......good decision to replace  Ed after he had done the job of getting the two early goals. After what happened early in the season , Rugby will be wishing he wa on our team  sheet next week.

MOTM yesterday  for me was  Warren again but credit to all the others , with an agreement that Sean Fraser doesnt always get the credit he should...............I said a few weeks ago we have the best pair of backs in the league and still believe it

It couldn't have gone any better yesterday, with us clinically killing the game off inside 10 minutes. Well done to Eddie Smith for getting through all those games without getting booked and not getting the hump when taken off after 30 minutes on a hattrick! Good performances all over the pitch but I think George Short is worth a mention. Brilliant assist for the fifth goal, but more importantly, he's getting more influential in matches and also doing the dirty work, winning his headers and getting his foot in.

Good for us to be able to rest up Wazza and Clurgy. Really looking forward to a massive game on Saturday.

COYR!

Interesting point,Graham, about our full backs. I think Ryan Parsons has been excellent for us since his arrival, especially in terms of the experience he brings to our defence and the way he gets up and down the pitch,in much the same way Danny Murphy did for us.

I liked Ryan Lake as a defender but his game didn't offer as much going forward as Murphy's did or Parsons does.

Danny Murphy is no mug left back and it's no co-incidence that he's playing in one of the top teams in this division, that of Dunstable.

I wouldn't have let him go,personally but now Ryan Parsons is here we have an excellent replacement for him and there's little to choose from either of them.

As for Sean Fraser, given the amount of noteworthy clubs he's played for,it's hard to believe he is only 20.

He gets better with every game and is one player I hope achieves his potential and stays with our club for a long time to come.Don't believe he's the full article just yet but this season he has nailed his position in the team.

Funny enough I don't mind him in centre midfield either but our managers don't seem to favour him there.......yet?

Was obviously part of the game plan anyway with ed as after his second it was him who indicated to the bench

Smithy had fair warning, Bakes and Unders gave him 10 minutes to get his hat-trick and he failed miserably   :D

I'd take Ryan Parsons over Danny Murphy any day. For me Parso is a much better defender than Murphy which after all is what being a full back should be mainly about.

I think Sean has had a couple of games in midfield in the past and done OK. For me a much better full back but can do a job in midfield if we were short.

Early days for Sean.

Parso better defender but not as good as Murphy in attack.

I would have liked to have seen them together in the team ie Ryan at left back and Danny on the left wing or possibly a different configuration all together.

how about this

                     somerville

           foulser  wooz  r parsons

Fraser                                       Murphy

                Mclurg    Rummy

                        Wazza

             Smith              Dyer

Fraser and murphy as wing backs and wazza with a free role running at people or joining the wings.

Sometimes wonder if I'm watching a different season. Liked Danny murph a lot, but Ryan is stronger both defending and attacking and his final ball (dAnnys main weakness) is far superior. Seany has been superb at full bAck.

Seany would be in with a Shout of top 3 for player of the season IMHO.

Love your line-up Staines Rebel Jr, you're on my wavelength! Although I would accomodate Guy Hollis somewhere.

Don't know why people get out their prams when fans offer alternate views on players, after all it bears no relevance to the current squad.

The managers will make their own decisions on players/systems,regardless of what fans think.

The beauty of football,we all see the assets of players in different ways.Who's to say who's right and who's wrong.

Danny Murphy for me has energy to burn and makes an excellent wing back and no one's fool at left back.He also has a good shot, which largely went unused by Steve Bateman.

If he wasn't any good he wouldn't be a regular in the Dunstable team or have played for the teams he has.
