Canvey Photos

I haven't got round to fully launching this section yet but....

http://photos.nonleague.com/showgallery.php?cat=503

I have uploaded over 500 Canvey photos that I have taken over the last few years.

They are sorted into seasons, and then into League, F.A. Cup, F.A. Trophy, Other Matches & Other Events.

They are there for you to enjoy.....

Everything from 'Mad Al's house, funeral & train' to 'Match of the Day live from Park Lane', from 'the building of the Northern Terracing' to 'the F.A. Trophy Final'.

There are a few more to upload - but it will do for now....

It is a shame, that I am not allowed to take any more, as I thoroughly enjoyed recording a very small chunk of history for Canvey frown.gif

Thanks for this Ian, some great photo's and memories. Your not on your own missing the photo's.

When I used to go to the games while the unofficial site was up, it'd make getting home something to look forward to. To see Merv / Matt's entertaining match reports and your match photo's when you could.

Now all I have to look forward to is reading their cr@p 5 line match reports with no real effort put into them. Even I could write better ones than that.

Maybe, one day, the official site will realise just how much of a cr@p job their doing, and that they have lost quite possibly their three most needed fans ever. For some reason they felt they had to put this ban across, in my head, it seems the main cause is jealousy.

Nothing would make me happier than to see this all sorted out. Until then, good luck in everything...

Bill

Why don't you guys bring back to life the unofficial Canvey website? Is there any real reason why you cannot have one? We at Southend have at least three unofficial sites : ShrimperZone, The Little Gazette, and Shrimpers.net plus many more smaller ones. It would be a shame if a growing non-league club like Canvey had just one single (and official) voice on the internet.

Canvey banned the three people maintaining the unofficial website from our ground. Therefore pictures / match reports are virtually impossible.

If they were to bring it back, there would be no match reports or photo's.. Therefore it would be pretty much the same as the official one.. So what's the point?

The lads have shut the site down and are now allowed to watch the games regarding the unofficial one stays down...

What a bunch of [****!!****] our board are!

The situation is that Ian and Matthew are still banned from Park Lane, the ban on me was lifted when I returned from holiday and contacted the club secretary, explaining that as I was out of the country when the ban was imposed, there might, just might, be a slight travesty of justice. The club replied saying that I never was banned in the first place. Must have been a misunderstanding on Ian's part as when club chairman, Ray Cross, said to him, "You're banned. You and all that f***ing website lot!" and then repeated the exact same thing to Matthew, we all assumed he meant 'all us f***ing website lot - Ian, Matt and Merv.'

What is really annoying all of us is that whereas Matt was banned for writing unacceptable comments in his match reports (unacceptable to the club that is), no reason has ever been given to Ian as to why he is banned. I don't agree with the reason behind Matt's ban, but at least it's a reason. What has happened to Ian is a disgrace.

The other thing that bugs us is that the ban appears to be for ever. At least, when I asked how long the ban was, there was no real reply. No suggestion of 6 weeks, or 6 games or even 6 years. You might assume that the ban was for as long as our website was live, but as I was assured that the club did not want us to close it down, this can't be true either.

Not the right way to treat any fans, but a disgusting way to treat Ian who, regardless of his faults, has done more than almost any fan I can think of to bring free publicity and raise the profile of Canvey Island FC.

It's all very well mentioning that Merv although the only comments made to me were"You've upset some people down the Club, you've upset me and we don't want you down there anymore. You do something like this again and it won't be them you have to deal with, it will be ME!" - CIFC Chairman Ray Cross in the bar at Maidenhead.

So as far as I'm concerned, no reason was given to me face to face or otherwise, apart from the fact that I had 'upset some people' - a poor excuse and why couldn't the upset person(s) come to see me themselves or were they really that distraught?

I'm still in the dark over most of this!!! <img src="/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

I think it's more cos they decided to get their own website (which of course costs real money) and did not want it to be shown up by a far superior unofficial site. It's not the first club to ban people behind an unoffical site and it won't be the last but it's totally incomprehensible that a non-league club should ban 3 people who have proved loyal fans and have generated wide interest in the club through their website. Now we have a website which does not do match reports, has no message board and appears to be updated by somebody during their lunch hour, so if you want up-to-date news it's not the place to go.

A real shame, lads. Let's hope you can get it back. For the record, our unofficial sites - ShrimperZone and The Little Gazette for example - are far more popular that the official site and the Club more or less acknowledges that because they haven't the staff or the knowhow to keep the official one up to scratch.

LOYAL FANS WHO GOT IN ON PRESS PASSES, BUT STILL WANTED TO SPEAK LIKE SUPPORTERS, AND THEN IAN "I'M SO UPSET I MOVE TO HORNCHURCH AND BECOME A CLUB TIE WEARING FREELOADER THERE AS WELL!" W, and still maintain we weren't in for the exposure, the time has come when the REAL fans, who pay to get in and still donate their time and effort into the club, people like the supporters club committee, got the recognition they REALLY deserve. Ian, you were never a fan you were an opportunist. You did o.k out of C.I.F.C. so don't carry on bleating as the only thing you lost when you were banned was a free game and a chance to sell more photo's, and you've more than made up for that with your change of loyalties.

The great thing about democracy is anyone can have their say, whether it's total [****!!****] or not. And on the discussion board designed, hosted, maintained and paid for by Ian.

i heard there were a quiet a few people who held that view T1K, but i'd like to see anyone survive on the dough Ian would have made doing all the work he did on this site, mainly as even free tickets wouldn't have covered the bandwidth.. got a game you have fond memories of, trek back through the history section n read the report and see the photos.. theres hours of work in there per week and a lot of it is fecking boring.. i seem to see a whole load more mention and pictures of jeff and the canvey boys heroics than any pictures for sale signs .. if the club thought he was freeloading then fine they have got what they want, if hornchurch value his input n think its worth a free pass and a free tie than who can blame him for hanging out there, its not like he can even get into park lane to pay to watch a match now anyway.. from my point of view when i cant get to a game its my loss, and i know quite a few non fans who used to really enjoy the old web site and occasionally came along with me after reading the reports n seeing the pictures and checking out when the next big games where and knowing some of the reasons for any rivalary.. thats a few more nine quids and load more beer vouchers the club got out of it..

I make both Merv and Canv dead right on this one.

There have been and are a few free-loaders wrapped around the Canvey gang who don't contribute a great deal but do not pay at the gate and manage to obtain free passes away too and I have not seen anywhere near the input from these people to match that of the webmasters at Canvey. Lets face it Tackle, just about everyone, would jump at the offer if given the chance to get into an away game free, that fact does not make them any a less supporter of Canvey!
