Sir Rebel1965
Northampton need to get some wins under their belt to stay in div 2. That will see Wycombe back in non-league where they belong Could mean in a couple of years the traditional derby games could be back on the table? Not nice to see a club drop down the leagues, but it would add some spice to be playing them again, rather than in the Bed & Breakfast cup. Mark44
Interesting and something that came up yesterday at the game. I have been supporting slough since 2002 so way after the Wycombe big games, I think I would prefer Pompey to go down and a chance to play in front of 15k in the trophy or earlier round of fa cup
SloughRebelBoy
Mark44, god you make me feel old saying that mate and I'm only 35 The Wycombe games / atmospheres are good memories. I remember us taking A LOT to Adams Park, the night where it wasnt an all ticket game and we 'just got in' with many Slough left out. Our away support that night was fantastic. Also remember that screamer (Mark Foran?) when we drew 1-1 at Wexham Park.

Haha your only 9 years older than me....it was just my first Slough game was when I was 14 and so missed out on the conference days also.......A real shame, especially as I grew up living in Borderside which was about 500 yards from WP
SloughRebelBoy
Ian Hazel. ahhh yes, thanks for clarifying. Not very often I sat in the stands, used to stand behind the goal next to a young Jamie Jackson and his pals, but that night, I swapped with someone in the ground for their seat and had a cracking view of Hazels goal. One thing you could say about Wexham Park, when we had those big home games Wycombe, Barnet, Reading, Plymouth, Cardiff, Torquay etc... always cracking atmospheres... Nothing better than seeing a full stadium (and we always, like with Mansfield last year) put up a good fight, no matter the status of the oppo. michaelSTFC
I remember missing the Ian Hazel goal as I was on a pre-planned family holiday -- I'm still fuming!! I think the game at Wycombe was the best atmosphere I've experienced at an away ground in non-league, even though we lost and were playing ten men. You're right Matt about the atmosphere at WP. Even watching the Reading highlights on youtube makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

grandad
How things may have been different if Mark Quamina's long range effort at the game in Wycombe had gone in....
Kaiser Gibbs Batman (KGB)
This where some old git like me chimes in with, if its atmosphere you wanted you should have been at the Dolphin in 1970 when we knocked Wycombe out of the FA Cup through a Joe Adams penalty after courageously getting a draw at Loakes Park with a weakened side. Nothing like the main covered terrace at the Dolphin for atmosphere/intimidation on a big match day.
