Lord Upminster
Another one to forget. A poor referee, a disappointing result and no excuses a tepid performance by the Urchins. Roll on Thursday.....................
urchinman1961
Sloppy first fifteen minutes of the second half cost us against an inform strong hendon side the team picked it self due to injuries but its no excuse stonewall first pen even better case for a second but ref gave a free kick the other way !!!!.still in the playoffs our fate is in our hands
andydick
Absolutely woeful .. their keeper hasn't needed to make a save in the entire match (barring the pen we got). Yes, he was a poor ref, we got every decision in the first half, Hendon got them all in the second but that's no excuse for such a poor performance from us. Credit to Hendon though, they defended very well and looked more than useful up front. So, for the 4th home game in a row we go in at half time 1-0 up. We've only then gone on to win one of those - against 9 man Maidstone. Makes you wonder what's [not] being said at half time. With all the other play-off contenders winning, barring Bognor's draw, it's all up for grabs again. Fortunately we're away for our next two. cup of tea
Always going to be a tough game. Just didn't get going, just the occasional moment of showing what we can do. Hendon did okay, we didn't. Ref had a shocker but that shouldn't detract from the performance . need to move on quickly.
Miss.A.F.C.Hornchurch
what a load of b*****ks!! no enthusiasm, tired looking, poor play. Doesn't look good for a team 3rd in the table with 5 games to go wanting to go up via playoffs. I will remain optimistic about the playoffs but don't make it torturous for us!! Incompetent refs, inconsistent at the least!! Onto the next game, i hear you say......oh joy!!
Eastside Urchin
Missed the game due to waking up with a banging headache so obviously can't comment, but seems to be an off performance where the last few have been decent, hopefully it's a one off against an in form side but we will need to win a couple of tricky away games now if we want to get a decent home draw in play offs, and need probably 10/12 points just to get in play offs, not going to be easy
SEVEN TEARS BOY
It seems we're better away than home, we lost to Cray ffs, so I guess we should want away playoff games Unless we get Maidstone, whom we beat (with me being on the way to Upton Park in the 2nd half) Hendon are right back in the mix btw
Eastside Urchin
As much as it would appear we are better away from home, let's look at our record at home against the play off contenders Wealdstone 1-1 league 6-1 cup Bognor 1-0 league Dulwich 1-1 league Lowestoft 2-1 league Maidstone 2-0 league Kingstonian 0-0 league So hardly the worst run of form against those around us,think we have trouble getting up for certain games, mainly against sides we really should be beating. Mr short
1 st half looked very comfortable,in fact I'd go as far as saying that was as best we'd played at home for a while. Totally dominant, all the play in their half, the only thing missing was real clear cut chances. 2nd half we began with a different mindset it seemed. Instead of keeping the ball,we decided to go route 1, our defence started to look shaky and when they equalised we looked clueless. By then going 3 up really didn't work. Firstly there is no cohesion between the three of them and secondly it just encourages us to launch aimless 60 yard balls to no one. This in turn completely takes our midfield out of the game who were running the 1st half. How about trying something slightly different, playing a 5 man midfield for instance. We become very predictable and I feel very easy to play against when we adopt the 3 up front, yes it has worked on certain occasions, but we're at our best when we play through our midfield. We will still make the play offs and I don't think many teams will still fancy playing us either.
shrimper
same old same old seen this home performance over and over during the last 3 years , supposed to be like a ''cup final game '' but we came up very flat . slow to the ball basic mistakes and then long ball after long ball against tall defenders who could deal with them all day long ..... and for the first time at a game i wasnt bothered when the final whistle went as i cant remember being bored at a match before and ive seen plenty of bad ones at southend and hornchurch over the years but i was saturday just so predictable of course we are still in the play offs and with this team who knows they might just win the next 2 away games and we will be right back in it .
