Smudge
Do Match Reports on Club websites reflect the true picture of a game. The reason I ask is I paid a visit to the Badshot Lea site today Nothing but praise for Ash after they beat the Baggies 4-0,they deserved more, and how are they in the Relegation Zone, not a mention of the Ref,even though the Baggies received 4 yellows.A mention was made of Badshots Keeper who without his excellent performance, the score would of been greater. Move on to the 5-1 (thrashing) my words by Bedfont Sports, the Ref was poor, yet No bookings were received by either side,Most of the Bedfont goals were mistakes,or fouls by them. Not one word of praise for Bedfont Sports in fact the only thing they got right was Badshots M.O.M. their centre back,a class act.And believe it or not No mention of the Badshot keeper, who had a blinder, did make the odd mistake agreed, but saved them from losing by a Cricket score.Takes a lot for me to get annoyed, but those 2 reports have made me view Badshot Lea in a different light,Thought they were a class act Club, sadly no longer. Mewcenary
Looks like an error in the first match report: Badshot Lea reserved just two cautions in the match at Ash.

Lee Farmie
Match reports tend to be written by human beings. Sometimes they even attend the matches...
thevoiceofreason
Home bias in match reports...whatever next? And the award for least astonishing discovery goes to...! Quite often these missives can be written by people who perhaps immerse themselves more than might be deemed healthy. They're not there to present balanced views, they are there to emphasise everything with reference to 'their' club. It's not hard nosed journalism, it's hobby writing and as long as nobody takes it as gospel or a fair reflection of events, I can't see the harm in giving Jonny Goldwatch his moment of notoriety. He's probably been watching the same stuff for twenty years or more, so I'm not sure it matters that much if he's cluelessly biased. does it? Smudge
You have obviously not read the reports, praise of the utmost order to Ash,is hardly HOME bias surely if you are reporting, for Badshot Lea,or maybe Ash were at home.

In The Know
Smudge I apologise for the match report, I believe it was put on the website and written by a person who didn't attend the game and I believe had text updates only to assist him. That said the referee was nowhere near as good as you are portraying him. He made a number of poor judgements on decisions.I recall one on the halfway line where our centre forward shielded the ball and was clearly being fouled by the Bedfont defender, somehow he gave Bedfont a free kick. Then the penalty that never was. Found out today from our manager that the referee admitted to our captain that he had made a mistake and in fact that is what led to our captain being substituted because he was clearly losing his head. All of that aside, Bedfont deserved the win on the night and good luck to them for the rest of the season, I am sure you will ok. Hope that puts the record straight Smudge and see you soon.
