9-5??? Halsey under pressure now maybe.

The club has gone backwards in my opinion.

You look at the players he has now Rose, Anstead, Ruff, Smith and bit part players like Lawton...should be pulling results end of.

Whilst I get bored of hearing how great Hertfords alleged support is, you have to agree that they get good numbers through the gate. Problem

is they haven't had a side that deserves that support in a while now. Assuming the takings on the gate are larger than most clubs, you have to wonder whether it's an option to plough a bit more money into the playing budget to attract the kind of players that will lift them up the league table.

Whilst I'm a firm believer that the amount of money spent on players at this level is disgusting, show me the last side that got promoted from the prem that operated on a shoe string.

Where is all that gate money going??

That is a great question..

They don't play players over there and the average home gate is 110!

Whays the entrance fee? £7 odd?

That's a lot of dough for a home game. Maybe they have to save it for a rainy day...

Here are the major items from this year alone:

New roof on changing room blocks: £10k

New felt on club house roof £3k

Annual electricity bill £5k

Replace water pipes from road to stadium £4k

Verti-drain, seed, fertiliser, soli/sand for pitch £4k

Flood damage (e.g. New mower, wall/gate, carpets, water pump, pitch hire, etc £7k).

So that's £33k spend this season......half of which we were not expecting to spend at start of season.

I think the question is how can some clubs that have far lower gates afford to pay players and why do they choose to do so. We believe the money is better spent improving facilities and improving our connection with the local community including youth teams and local charities. We could have kept our top striker who left for a local rival who are paying him and to be honest it would not have cost us much.......but it's the principle that counts....we have our vision and we believe in it.

An example of this is our fans day which is on 26th April. Entry for our match against Leverstock Green on that day will be free to all. There will be lots of family fun and, if the weather is kind, we hope to beat the 404 attendance we had for the same event last year and we are aiming for a similar carnival type atmosphere.

Loucas

Your managers record is poor at best since he took over, lets not try to smoke screen this by talking about other clubs.

I was tongue in cheek when I said you don't pay as everyone knows a few of your lads are on dough!

I applaud what you do over there as you are a decent bloke with the club at heart, maybe you should make a move like your ex "top striker" lol

All fair comments Loucas but as suggested by Neutral, it must stick in the throat that so much money has to be spent on the ground.

I applaud you though having a vision and believing in it. Not a lot of patience in football at any level these days so it's admirable that you're willing to sacrifice success on the pitch for ground repairs and maintenance.

At least the gaffer can work safe in the knowledge that he's not going to get the chop if he doesn't finish in the top 18. Fair play.

I don't see it as we are sacrificing success on the pitch Jonno. As you say, I just see it as patience to go for sustainable success in the long term.

And Monkey at St Mags regarding "dough", for the whole season we will have paid around £600 in expenses. None of this went to our top striker who went to a local rival for money. none of this went to Anstead either or our remaining star player who the fans love. The 2 players who got more than anyone were fringe squad members who hardly got any minutes but they were drivers who would pick up non driving players and take them to matches/training so we paid them some petrol money. Both of them have left the club now.

Patience and sustainable success is all well and good Loucas but I would respectfully suggest that if it wasn't for the fact that both Hatfield and London Lions have been so utterly utterly dreadful this season, you'd be in a relagation battle and staring down the barrel of division one. And it ain't easy to come back quickly!! Believe me, being a Hoddesdon Town fan, I know all about it!!!

I'll take organic growth over extending our reach beyond our means and hiring mercenaries who don't care about the club or the community that supports it every day of the week.

Dunstable went up last year with a nice (subsidised) ground and still doing well this year.

But no fans or interest from the local people though.

They could get to the Premiership and still only get 20 people watching.

What's the point???

With regards to ex-players who have traded a loving club with fans, stadium noise and facilities for a tenner a game down the road in empty, silent, makeshift field of a ground with no fans. . . you can make your own minds up regrading their relative integrity.

Hertford are trying to build a community club from youth to 1st team by playing good football and adopting fair play.

We do not buy our players or pay them, we make them what they are.

I do not agree with paying players at this level.

It breeds all the traits in young, promising players that is ruining football in the modern era.

Who posted your current managers record since taking over on twitter last night, which caused a mass debate?

Hertford don't pay wages, just expenses and win bonuses to keep the costs down!

I posted the stats, just honest and in expectation of improvement. Thanks for making me aware of yet another stalker fella.
