A report from another Forum:

Spartan South Midlands DIV 2

Old Bradwell United 0-1 Kent Athletic ATT h/c 25 f&n (hosts offered to post a prog to me as they do not issue midweek)

A reasonable game of 40 mins each way kicking off at 18.25 i.e 5 mins early & only 5 mins break. It was quite gloomy at the end. Goal came on 16 mins from visitors number 3 Currington. I think they just deserved points but game of few clear chances.

This location is in Bradwell village in a large grass area also used by cricket club sloping down towards the river from which many balls had to be retrieved during the game & a large fishing net on a long pole is used for this. No spectator facilities exist at pitchside but pitch is railed on 3 sides & roped adjacent to cricket square. Fast trains pass frequently on the mainline the other side of the river.

I can concur many balls did need to be retrieved because I was doing it.

Your views, Karen on Competition Rule 8.3.1.

Always think that is fairer and more sensible than a 45 minute 1st half and 35 minutes in the 2nd before it gets too dark to continue

Law 7 from the Laws of the Game insists that the game has to be two equal periods, and quotes "...any agreement to alter the duration of the periods of play, e.g. to reduce each half to forty minutes because of insufficient light, must be made before the start of play and must comply with competition rules...". Therefore a first-half of 45 minutes and a second of thirty-five would be have to be classed as an abandoned game, although the League could, according to League rule 8.3.1 "...may be ordered to stand as a completed match...".

I wouldn't be surprised if the Old Bradwell United v Kent Athletic game is declared null and void and replayed

I refer you to the answer given by Whitley Bay regarding two equal periods.

Prehaps the fixture was a week too early. On Tuesday I put the floodlights on at 1930.
