Hornchurch 1 - 1 Dulwich

Recommended Posts

Cant decide if its a well earned 1 point or 2 points dropped!

Why, why, why, do we keep letting the other team get more into the game in the second half?

I know it was going to be a tough game tonight but we had enough chances to put the game away well by the end of the game.

If we had won we would've been second!

On a plus note, good to see Martin Tuohy back! :)

In regards to the second half,I think you have to give credit to Dulwich who I thought stepped up a gear. In saying that I never felt we were ever going to concede.

Tuohy could have the impact of a new signing,he has the ability to hold the ball up.

George and Stef have scored some wonderful individual goals (like tonight) but don't bring others into play.

On balance of play though I thought adraw was a fair result. Enjoyed the game.

draw  was a fair  result , it would have be nice to have tested  their struggling keeper  with a few  shots in the second half   but  i dont think we really  got one on target, dulwich were camped  in our half for most of the second half  so we did well to  keep them to the one goal....   another great goal  by stefan  in the first  half  and it was   good to see martin back on the pitch  and  he did ok  after his  time  out ... i thought  at the  start of the season dulwich would go  up  this year  and i still think  they could be the ones via the  play off  that will join wealdstone

Nice fans to be fair, friendly bunch.

Not checked their forum but hope they don't get home and do the usual "isthmian club" stuff of caning us for daring to have an athletics stadium instead of an old school footy ground and call us Essex thugs as per Wealdstone ,sutton (twats),tooting ( tools) and to a lesser extent Kingstonian

Fair assessment of the game to be fair

Quite like these people but not surprising really as this was Margaret thatchers constituency, lovely lady who hated lazy lefty fckwits

It was a welcome sight for all Hamlet fans to see the reassuring presence of Phil Wilson in goal and this was reflected in a much stronger defensive display. The defence showed a number of changes with Peter Adeniyi at right back, Marc-Anthony Okoye in the middle and Ethan Pinnock at left back. Further forward, Erhun Oztumer started on the bench with Xavier Vidal partnering Tommy Kavanagh in the centre of midfield.

The game got off to a slow start with Hornchurch on top but unable to create anything worthwhile in terms of chances. In fact, it was Dulwich who looked more dangerous with a couple of chances from balls into the box. Nyren Clunis had a.good shout for a penalty as he appeared to be clipped as he turned in the area.

However, they were to fall behind as a quick break out saw Stefan Payne deliver a spectacular shot on the run in the 16th minute that flew past Wilson and in off the post.

The rest of the half was full of endeavour but without any real quality, with Dulwich looking at their most dangerous through the marauding runs of Peter Adeniyi down the right.

Half Time 1-0

Now with the wind in their favour Dulwich pressed hard from the restart and lengthened up their passes to try to negate the difficult surface. Gradually, they assumed the upper hand without creating clear chances.

As they pressed for an equaliser, Kevin James forced a finger tip save from Echepare in the home goal before the introduction of Erhun Oztumer led to an equaliser with 12 minutes remaining..He delivered a well flighted free kick into the box that Kevin James flicked home with a deft header.

It was now The Hamlet who looked the more likely winners. and Dean Lodge was inches away at the far post from converting a Kershaney Samuels cross from the left, although on a rare break out the home side flashed a shot across goal.

Dulwich continued to press through 5 minutes of added time but were unable to fashion another clear chance.

Full Time 1-1

Shouldn't do politics Rob but the only thing I have in common with that evil woman was the fact we both had Dupitrons, so did Reagan and didn't like him either.

Before kick-off I'd have been happy with a draw to go with the Maidstone win which makes the Cray result all the more mystifying.

Got to be careful of Lowestoft, three points behind us, a game in hand and superior goal tally.
